100gr vs 120gr in 25.06

I see from different forums and articles that lots of people who shoot a 25.06 for deer use a 100gr bullet. I've always used 120gr bullets myself and the lightest I've used was 110gr. Is there an advantage to using the 100gr over the heavier weights other than velocity? I was just wondering am I missing out on something? I appreciate any imput and feedback. Thank. Mike

Other than speed, no advantage. Personally, I would take advantage of the case capacity and hunt with the heavier bullets.

I think that the only difference you will notice, is when you stretch your shots out. The heavier bullets will always win there. If the shots are not over 300 yards, the 100s will shoot like a laser.

My 25.06 has been very happy shooting the 110 gr Nosler's. IF I ever get the chance to go deer hunting that's what I'll be using.

The .25-'06 will kill deer like a lightning strike with any properly constructed bullet 100 grains or heavier. I've used everything from Sierra 100 gr. GKs to Speer 120 grain SPBTs over the years and I have yet to shoot a deer more than once with any of them. I did favor the longer, heavier bullets when I lived and hunted in more open country and where longer shots presented themselves more often but a stout 100 grain load will shoot plenty flat over just about any reasonable hunting range.

My Post 64 257 Roberts does well with 100's but not 120's......Remington Classic 257 Roberts will shoot both.
I don't recall if there is a twist difference. Perhaps those that shoot the 100's do so not by choice but by necessity. Rick

Split the difference and go with the 115gr Berger. Outstanding bullet with exceptional terminal performance. I watched my wife kill a Coues deer at 824 yards with her .25-06 a couple years ago. The deer took two steps and fell over. Bullet entered just behind the shoulder and exited with a quarter sized hole.
