100gr Barnes TTSX (tipped x-bullet) reloading question.

I got me some to try in the 25-06 for this year.I didnt want to buy a barnes manual for 1 caliber.I just want to see any body have any experiance with this or just the regular tsx bullet.Iv heard they like up to 50 thousandths jump from some people.Im just looking for some starter loads to work up from for this bullet if anyone can help anything would be great.

I shoot TTSX and TSX in several calibers in my hunting rifles, almost all at .060 of jump. As with all Barnes bullets they are long for their weight, and especially the TTSX. I shoot RL22 in my Browning 25-06 a little hotter than what Barnes has listed in their manual. The bullet is the hammer of Thor on deer etc. Here is the link to the Barnes manual for 25-06, Dave

I have tried the 100grain TSX in my 257 WBY and it was really accurate. I have a Hart barrel, 10 twist, 26" long. I am jumping the bullet about .050" with close to a maximum charge of imr 4350. My chronograph stopped working before I got a chance to check the velocity, but judging from other loads that I have checked in the past through this barrel, it is probably between 3500 fps to 3600fps. I had really wanted to try the bullet on deer and was a little disappointed when my shot came at only about 50 yards, but was happy to get a shot. The buck was coming right at me and I hit him dead center, high in the chest. He was on the ground quick!! I was very surprised at the damage....a HUGE entrance hole at least 6" - 8" in diameter. That's the only deer that I got a shot at with that rifle last year, so it's only one example. I'm not complaining..... the deer died before the muzzle blast was over!! RL22 should work well in the 25-06 or try IMR 4831.

You'll love the bullet. One word of warning, resist the tempation to put another round into a deer flopping around on the ground. It's dead but the nerve endings haven't figured it out. There is such a shock to the bullet that the results are unbelievable.

i shoot them in a 257 stw. 3850 fps douglas barrel. 60 thou off, took 320 bull at 546 yds through front shoulder , guide was amased he dropped instantly. bullet was complete pass through, two mule deer one 532 one at 618 both one shot kills. you cant go wrong with them.

Why do you seat them so far off of the lands?

Barnes usually recommends seating their bullets farther out than with regular jacketed bullets; they also fit my magazine well at that length; they shoot pretty darned good in my rifle at that length. Basically, after trial and error, that what works well in my gun.....the best reason.

120g Speers are hard to beat, ......

My load for the Speer 100g BTSP and the 100g Tripple shock is

56g of R#19
Win brass
Win primer
bullet seated .050 off the lands
3475 fps with extreme accuracy

DO NOT underestimate the killing power of the Speer 100g BTSP and the Speer 120g with extreme accuracy.

The tripple shocks will shoot a hole in a deer from one end to another.
