Just curious as to what everyone's favorite is and why? IE: Forearm width, Laminate or fiberglass, etc.

I don't think he asking for different stocks for different yardages. I think he is asking which one is best and for what reason. MattDifferent stocks for different BR yardages? Why?

Matt is correct, just trying to deduce what the long range guys are shooting and the reasons for their selections. I currently have two LG stocks, one is a PR&T Hammerhead with a 5" front width and 2" wide rear, while the other one is an old McMillan Short range stock with a 3" front end that has been Lengthened and reworked for Long Range. Both seem to track extremely well but if I'm splitting hairs, I would give a slight edge to the McMillan. As far as dampening vibration between the two stocks, it seems to be a moot point, that's why I found Tom's comment very interesting. Thanks for all the comments, I guess were always looking for a better mouse trap.I don't think he asking for different stocks for different yardages. I agree with all of your points Jim, I have everything that you mentioned with the exception of the super feet.A glued and screw action is the best system of them all. jim
That's why I have never liked a glue-in. It's like removing the rubber from the motor mounts in your car/truck, and mounting the engine solidly to the frame. It sends vibration throughout the vehicle.I think maybe the super feet would depend if the benches are topped with wood or bare concrete. I had an aluminum light gun that I was load testing at 400 yards. I was trying to watch the holes go in the paper. It was impossible because the gun sat there and vibrated like a tuning fork. I put 1 inch plywood on the top and it almost made it disappear. Matt

I have no idea why you referenced "cab mounts". 'stress free" doesn't reduce, nor add to, vibration.JRS, Matt was testing a aluminium light gun gun on concrete bench,
and what does gluing in have to do with cab mounts on a truck??
I glue in with Devcon liquid over Devcon putty. It is stress free and has
all ready proved it self to work. jim
