1000 yard spotting scope suggestions

Need opinions on what brand and type of spotting scope is good for a 1000 yards

What type shooting are you doing ? If steel then I could think of several ... if NRA LR then you just need to see the spotter ? Please be a lot more specific. A good Kowa, Leupold gold ring ... How much do you care to spend ?

Xdshooter... I too just started into comp. shooting within the last year. I've been following your posts closely. As far as spotting scope goes, I can tell you what I've seen on the ranges, as of yet I don't have the spotting scope that I want either. Kowa's are damn nice and clear, but higher priced, the Leupold gold rings are what I am currently looking for, simply because for the money I have been impressed.

Take a look at Bushnell Elite (they have long eye relief eye pieces) and Pentax ED 80mm (I adapted a Kowa 25x long eye relief eye piece to mine). Excellent glass/resolution/color/contrast at a cost much less then the Fluorite Kowas. I have been using my Pentax for 1000 yd. and Palma matches for several years now and am very satisfied with it. On a good, mirage free day I can see 6mm bullet holes on white paper to 600 yds. and when the wind is blowing can see mirage very clearly.
I would buy another Pentax in a heart beat.
