1000 Yard Range in 'my area'?

I plan to progress in my F-T/R adventure from 600 yards to 1000 yards, which I understand is where the real challenge (fun) is.

What ranges are within the area shown below (about 200-mile radius, or three-hour drive) that offer 1000-yard distance, and will they have matches in 2015?

Thanks!!

Go a little bit farther south and you can shoot 1000 yards near Little Rock.

I'm not sure what is to the E/SE of you.

I'm in the same boat.. There arent many close 1000 yard ranges, I have to drive 2.5 hrs just for 600 yards. :(

We do 1000yd in tulsa twice a year. Camp Robinson in NLR, AR has several this year. I am not where I can get to the schedule right now. I can send it to you later if you like.

These are both outside your circle.

Vapor Trail and Yukon should be out that way. Not sure if they are in this circle. I also don't know if they shoot F-Class. I know they had 600 and 1000 benchrest. Matt

Oak Ridge, TN has Monthly matches starting in the Spring, but that's also a bit further South then your ring.

Find other shooters in your area to car pool with. Catch a ride with Mike and Pete up to Lodi. I believe Mike is referring to the Midwest Palma Match, you can shoot long range for a week. You will have a great time. There are always good shooters to learn from also.

I'm working on that right now. Time for a few of my shooters to get out and see the world.

The only "real Range" in the U.S. is Lodi (Winequah Gun Range). You might as well just come up and shoot the Midwest. Worlds best shooters, literally, (Kenny Adams) shoot there all the time. He doesn't even always win! I also love shooting at Raton because it has been good to me, but I cannot WAIT to get down to phoenix in a little over a week.

Been to all a bunch of time, and will continue until I can't walk. Maybe a little after that even. There are not that many ranges in this country that can put on a long range match with any quality. I have the good fortune of living 15 minutes from Lodi, that's why I like it the most. I do not look forward to the 30 hr drive (for me) to Phoenix, But it sure is nice when I get down there and Mid etc put on a GREAT match. You just need to drive a little more.

Your gonna need a bigger circle Alex. Pete and I will be going north to Lodi Wisconsin in June.

You are correct, Mike!

The ranges that have F-Class (as far as I can tell) are 380-424 miles (~ 6+ hr) and further away, such as Little Rock (Robinson), Tulsa, and Lodi. Little Rock (Robinson) is 515 miles (7+ hr).

I looked up the Winnequah Gun Club range (Lodi), as you recommended, and "The Only 'real range' in the U.S..." (according to Bob :) ) and it does look like a good place to go.

Thanks to all!

Check out central indiana high power shooters. They have matches at atterbury, half hour south of indy, about once a month starting in march or april.

Jason,

Yes, that may work as well. It would be an under five-hour drive, and we have family in northern Indiana.

Thank you!

Nando

Nando, if you're going to drive to Lodi you could also try Alliance NE but as Jeremy and I were discussing Raton is closer!

I'm coming to see you Jason, that range is between us and the rest of my team. Phil just joined and wants to get involved out there also. I have my eye on the April 25-26 match.

If you can find a local club with enough property then possibly the suggestion might spark the desire to set up a 1000 yd. range, even if only 5 to 10 shooting positions to start with.
