100/200yrd matches reloading day of the match?

As I understand it, 100/200yrd BR match shooters will tune their load the day of the match, reloading at the match. Maybe I misunderstood what I heard, or maybe not?

But it made me curious about the logistics of it, what equipment do guys use? When do they load?

Just kinda saw the tip of an iceberg that I've never seen before, so I'm interested in exploring to learn a little.

Thanks!

Just take all of your reloading stuff pertaining to the caliber that you're shooting...and be prepared to buy more or borrow some...In cluding a generator for your 3000.00 digital scale...LOL

Varminterror.....Reloading at the range is primarily to help compensate for changes in ambient conditions such as temp, humidity, air density, etc. When you are trying to shoot those itty-bitty groups, all these little things matter. These BR rifles are generally capable of groups in the zeroes in good conditions. If you can,go to a BR match and actually see what shooters use...make a list if necessary. You'll need much the same as you do at home, but portability is key. Time/experience will teach you when/how much to change your load. Meanwhile,I'd advise you to get Tony Boyer's book "The Book of Rifle Accuracy".

At the matches you are allowed time between relays, or between groups to load. 15 minutes is usually plenty to reload 10-20 rounds.
Most are using a Harrell`s type powder measure or a electronic scale such as the RCBS Chargemaster, and a Harrell`s compact reloading press for full length sizing and an arbor press for bullet seating with a Wilson seater die. ( you can eliminate one of the presses by using a combo press that contains both) A large tool box carries all loading/ measuring tools. Loading areas are usually provided, and its a great way to bs with the shooters. see picture

What gun are you shooting? I personally do not load at the range. Not cause I can't, but because I choose not to. I preload. I am shooting a 30BR which is fairly easy to tune. If you are shooting a 6PPC.... not so much.

I am not saying that you should or shouldn't, just that it's not ALWAYS the right choice. For me.... It's not the right choice.

I have the same bullet, same brass, same powder, same powder weight, different neck tension (just went to .004 instead of .003), and same seating depth as I started from on day 1 over 2 years ago. Just passed 2000 rounds in my barrel. The gun is still shooting great. I have not changed a thing. I shot in cold, hot, calm, windy, stressed, and for fun. The gun will shoot if I do my job.
