$10 million dollars approved for new Wyoming Shooting Complex - CODY selected

As a Wyoming resident I’m very torn about this proposal. Part of me says “Oh cool! A major shooting complex!” while also disapproving of my tax dollars being spent on it. If it’s truly a great concept I think a privale party would have already built a shooting complex.

I tend to agree but aren't some of these taxes from hunting fees? Hunting and shooting go hand in hand.

Glad they pulled it. $19 million was a ridiculous amount for a shooting complex. Supposedly they already raised $6 mill locally. Let them build something with that or raise more locally. Hopefully this issue is finally DOA.

I can see your concerns being a tax payer from that State.

Surprised that Pittman-Robertson Act is not being used for this!

I'm sure many of our members have enjoyed Cody, WY over the years. I found it to be a welcoming and most enjoyable city. Having been fortunate to have toured the city and the museums along with participating in the Industry Masters event there I have to say the hospitality we enjoyed made me fall in love with the area. I can understand why Cody would want such a complex as proposed, if nothing more than the open and genuine welcome I received.
The Buffalo Bill Center of the West as a whole is a big asset to the community and to the USA. It's no wonder why the people of Cody would want to further the experiences of those who come to see and enjoy the area.
The state of Alabama understands the value of investing in shooting:

Alabama Public Shooting Ranges

Alabama has 12 public shooting ranges across the state operated by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Whether you’re an experienced target shooter, a hunter or a person just becoming interested in acquiring a first firearm and learning how to shoot, shooting ranges are a great place to practice your skills.

To use a public shooting range as an Alabama resident, you will need any of the following: a valid hunting, heritage, fishing, or WMA license is required for all range users between the ages of 16-64. For non-residents, a valid WMA license or non-resident hunting license is required for all range users age 16 or older.

$10,000.000 does seem like an extravagant amount of money for a facility that would be used by a rather small group of people for a relativity short length to time each year. Wherever it is located, most people are going to have to drive a long distance to get there. It may be nice for those close by, but Wyoming is not known for having densely populated areas.

A friend son received his MBA in Wyoming, they have underground access to classrooms. I thought that was interesting, maybe it more popular than I expected. Good place if you want to work on your wind reading skill.

With going in around Cody, it seems close to Billing’s. Here in Colorado we are quickly becoming the unfriendliness gun state. We pretty much surpassed California.
