10/22 stock suggestions

I received a 10/22 with a nice stock(sentimental, family member) as a gift, but i want to remoce the stock and keep. Any suggestions? It will have the stock pencil barrel.

Thanks

I just bought a 10/22 that has a mag pull hunter x22 stock on it. I’ve had quite a few 10/22s with different stocks, and I really like this one. I’ll probably get another one for a second rifle I have.

I should have also mentioned there’s a cheek piece riser kit for only $15 that gives you two taller options for your stock.

The other thing I read about was that the barrel channel support is reversible for either a bull barrel or thinner profile tube.

I believe that the rimfire would be affected much more since the 22 rifle is a very finicky in the ammo that it shoots. I had a hogue oversold stock on one of my 10/22's and took it off simply because it was to flexible and poi would change depending on how hard I squeezed the forearm. I would compromise between a full synthetic or fiberglass stock that is hard or a laminate. I have yet to have issues with the laminate stock on my 10/22. I personally would not recommend the rubber hogue stock.

I have a 10/22 with, the Wood ( Ash ) Sporter stock, on my Stain Stl., 22 inch, "Older", Ruger and bought, a GRX "Recoil Lug" ( see the Lug, on YouTube,.. $40.00 ) and Glass Bedded, the Lug and Barrel channel. The Rifle is shooting, 1/2 to 3/4 inch groups ( at 50 yds ), with Walmart winch/ fed, HP ammo ! I can't wait to try it at 75 and 100 yards. and some Fed Target or CCI Std Vel "Match type", ammo.
It's a Sweet lil' "Plinker" using, the Volquartsen Target Hammer, F Pin/ Extractor, with "stoning" & Spring Mods, etc. It's Sage Rat season here, in Idaho ! YIPPEE !

I just finished doing a 10/22 build and I used the AT-one Boyds Stock, I like it.

Another vote for the MagPul...that said, all the stocks listed on this thread are good. At one time or another I have either used or owned them all. I have used the Hogue stocks and they are not rubber, they are rubber covered. I did not experience any POI shift on either my 10/22 LR's or my 10/22 magnums. Not saying it cannot happen, I am saying I have not had it with the 10 different ones I have owned over the years.
If you like wood and/or a thumbhole, Boyd's makes a nice one and it's not that expensive. One nice thing about the MagPul, it is very adjustable. It does have a barrel channel liner for the thin barrels and you can take it out for a bull. I like the way it holds for me.
One thing to watch for, Butler Creek made carbon wrapped bull barrels. They are now discontinued. Occasionally one will pop up for sale...grab it if you get the chance...they were excellent tack drivers and it's not like you can wear one out. Best of luck sir!!
