10/22 aftermarket stock

Looking for an aftermarket stock for my 10/22 with a .920 diameter barrel. I bought one of the "cool" ones but the fit wasn't up to snuff. When I put pressure on the barrel, the whole assembly/barrel would rock up and down. Been looking at the Stocky's & they seem to have a better selection but which one to buy is the question. Any recommendations? TIA Hog

Maybe you should first try glass bedding the one you have. Rimfire Central has some excellent "stickys" on glass bedding a 10/22. Basically, you bed the action and the first 1-1/2 to 2" of the barrel & free float the rest. Some folks also like to use a pillar for the action screw.

If you don't want to bother with this try a rubber pad at the end of the forearm. You can cut a piece out of an old inner tube & try different thickness' to see what works best. One other solution that works well is a Volquartsen bedding kit. Cheap and effective, tho not as good as a good glass bedding job.

The pillar bed job on RFC looks like it may work. I'll try that and some glass bedding. Cheaper than a new stock. Thanks.
