1:8 vs. 1:7.75 in a 6mm

I have been thinking about next years barrel's and was wondering if a 1:7.75 twist barrel would offer an advantage in shooting the 103-108 range bullets. I currently have all 1:8.

What are some of the results you guys are seeing.

Any pros or con I should be aware of.

I wouldn't worry about going to a 7.5 twist in a 6mm. I don't think you're gonna lose anything but you cover your bases on stability. I have not experimented myself, but I have read and believe that I would not go to anything faster than a 7.5 either. I have a 7.83 Brux that shows some real promise but didn't ring it out yet. I have a buddy that shot a 7.5 Krieger last year and did fairly well (good enough for 2nd in SOY and won rookie of the year) at 600yd benchrest.

I went with a 7.5 for this year using 105s. Its sitting here ready to go but it will probably be another month before I can squeak a round off. Hope it shoots.

It depends on the distances you are shooting. I'm primarily at 600 so the 1:8 is fine for me using 105-108 class bullets. The problem is when I shoot a match at 1000. I think it might be a little better with the 1:7.5. Anyway, I'm going to the faster twist when it's time to rebarrel.
