1-8 twist - 220 Swift vs 22-6MM (224 TTH) with 70-85 gr bullets

Thanks 357Mag. If I can get 75 gr bullet over 3300 with a 28" barrel I will be happy for sure if it is accurate at that speed. No PD's around here so it should last me a long time :)

Howdy !

Forgot to mention..... may Hart 24" SS 1-14 chambered in .2-35Rem wildcat went 3,420rnds before keyholing its first bullet.

And that, after first few years of cleaning barrel w/o a coated rod. Also, I stupidly did a cryo on the barrel when it was already past the 1/2 way point of its life. Chunks of throat fell out, similar to look of dry lake bed.

My point:
.35Rem case capacity necked to .224" cal readily gave 3,420 good shots It undoubtedly would have faired even better;
had I cleaned correctly from the git-go; and skipped the ( late ) cryo.

Speed costs $$$..... How fast do you want to go ?!

Did you ever have a chance to try Norma MRP in your Clark? It is the best powder in my .22-6mm and should be available late this year or early in 2013.

No, never tried the MRP. Used 204, 205 and 4350, 4831. Norma powders then were not always avaliable and varied lot to lot. Just about time you would get a good load going then no more powder till next year. I think I would be looking at some other powder choices.

Have you tried any RL-19 or 22?

Contact me via PM been wanting to talk to you about your rifle but lost your older PM's.

Just got off phone with Kiff and my reamer is on order. Standard .220 Swift with .078 freebore and a .254 chamber set up for Norma brass and 75 A-Max. 6 week turn a round time. He knew the freebore off the top of his head as he is shooting a fast twist Swift also. Cool guy and first time i have talked to him.

Did you ever try Norma MRP in your Clark? So far, my .22-6mm is holding up using MRP and limititing shots strings to 3. I have a deer load using 70gr Barnes TSX at 3700+, 3800 if you don't mind .0002-.0004 case head expansion in a hunting load. All from a 30" Krieger.
The orginal Clark data got top velocity and accuracy with MRP and is the reason I gave it a try. It is also best in my standard version.

Hbb & 40X -

Theres' hundred million powder burn rate charts.

After reviewing one I look at alot, I'll say this....
The powder choices being talked about, lie in the H4350 - RL-22 range.
Most of what was listed on the chart, I'll list here; w/ a couple of comments from my shooting observations( my loads, my gun ):

WW760 - best combo for accuracy = 41.2gr in .22-35Rem wildcat w/ 24" 1-14 and 55 SX Hornady
H4350
VV160 - best combo for speed = 41.6gr in .22-35Rem wildcat w/ 24" 1-14 and 55"V"-Max
VV560
I4350 - best powder w/ 60gr bullets
I4831
AA3100 - best combo of accuracy and speed = 40.5gr in .22-35Rem wildcat w/ 28" 1-8 and 75gr bullets
H4831
WMR
MRP
RL-22 - best combo for accuracy = 43.7gr RL-22 in " Deep 6 " wildcat ( 6X47 - 6XC capacity range ) w/ 29" 1-8 88-105gr bullets

Comment:
- A lot of it comes down to whether you're a believer in " high load density", ( which I am ).
If you are a fan of hyer vel, you'd probably have chosen "Varget" for speed w/ the 55s.

- The "Deep 6" wildcat reference, lists a chuck-full case of RL-22; w/ cas e having capacity about 2gr < .243Win.

IMHO -

AA3100 should be a good candidate powder, for use w/ 75s in a 29" .224" calibre 1-8 barrel
