1/8 Dot at 1,000 Yards at 60X?

Here's the reply from Marchscopes Deon:
"Thank you for your inquiry.
The dot size is at the magnification of 40X.
That means 1/8 dot covers 0.25 inch length at 100 yard and 1.25 inch at 1000 yard.
And 3/32 dot covers 0.094 inch at 100 yard and 0.94 inch at 1000 yard."

1/8" covers .125 at 100...... a 1/4" covers .250 at 100...... Jim

1/8MOA at 40X will cover 1.25 inch @ 1000 yards. At 60X, that dot will become a 1/12MOA dot which will subtend .83 inch @ 1000 yards. The area will be .55 square inches on a 19.54 square inch X-ring. And I already thought the target dot in the MTR-2 of my March-X was small.

EDIT: Just saw Jim's answer and I would suggest that Killick write back to Deon because all the values are suspect since their answer is inconsistent.

This could be the case of non-Americans having problems with decimal measurements?

I don't think that group size has anything to do with it. I've shot a lot of two inch groups with an 1/8 min. dot. I would prefer a 1/4min. though....... I guess I'm old school I prefer a battle sight compared to a national match front sight........ Jim

Ok. So your choices, if you insist on that reticle, are 4/32nd dot, 3/32nd dot and 2/32nd dot. At 60X the 4/32nd covers a half square inch of the almost 20 square inch of the X-ring. The others will be smaller.

I CADded up an F-Class 1K yds. center with the relative sizes at 40,50,60 power

I don't see the big deal, it is a reference point to aim with. As you get older and it sure helps to be bigger and for the most part smaller doesn't make shoot smaller. If you are shooting a 1/4 min. gun that is twice as big as your aiming point and add the wind, dot size is way down the list to worry about......... Jim

Your 1/8 dot at 100 yards is 1.047 divided by 8= .130 at 1000 yards is times 10 ==1.30, power setting does not change size of dot. Interesting conversation, I called vortex I have the golden Eagle the dot doesn't change from 40 to 60 x

Are you saying as the apparent target size increases the dot remains constant?

That's right, you're bring target up by magnification, not by distance, just as if you go from 40x to 60 x point of aim does not change either

Simpler math: Buy the 3/32 dot for F-CLASS
