1-7 twist. 80gr. .223 loads?

I need some loads for my 1-7 twist bolt gun, .223, 26" barrel. 80 grain bullets for long range 600yds please.

And/or get a copy of Sierra's most recent loading manual; the .223 loads there are split out by gas gun / bolt gun.

long-range.com and nationalmatch.us both have a fair amount of LR .223 load info.

Basic version: 80gr SMK or Nosler 0.020-0.025 off lands, or 80gr Berger VLD 0.005-0.010 into lands. 23-24.5gr Varget, RE-15, or N140. Other good powders include H4895, N540, Benchmark, etc.

Thanks Monte, I ordered the new Sierra Manual yesterday. I have the old one but the new one separates the bolt and gas as you stated. Manuals aren't that much help when there is so much info to be found on the internet, actual experiences.

I don't like to spend allot of time working up loads so I like to pick other shooters brains on what works for them, back off a .5 grain or so and load.

Lazy...maybe...impatient...yes.

I have had good success with the 80SMK and 24.7 of VV N540 or a similar amount of Varget. Has used Norma 203B as well. Liked the N540 the best. You can go a bit higher in charge, but the 24.7 out of a 26" work fine out to 600 for me.

I use 25.0 gr. varget with lapua brass and berger VLDs from a 1x8 bolt gun. 26" barrel=2910fps Works well at 600. I have played with it at 1000 but my 260 does much better.
