1/15 twist bbl.

Has anybody had any luck stabilizing 55gr .224 bullets in a 1/15 twist bbl.. I usually shoot 50 gr bullets out of my 222 rem but I have a lot of 55gr. bullets. I have a chance at a 1/15 twist used bbl with 58 rnds on it. I just want to make sure I could shoot the 55gr. If not I would pass on it. Just wondering if anybody had any experience with the 1/15. Original bbl is a 1/14 it shot 45grs. to 55grs. that the range that I tried when I bought the gun back in 85.

For 55s w/ the case size you have in-mind.... I'd say you'd do best w/ a 1-14 , or even faster twist.

Ihad a hiwall 16 twist in 219 imp zipper, the 55's were a waste and the 50s fine, the speed helped. i think you need to stay with 50gr unless the 55's you have are short, not balistic tip as the bullet oal length is a major part of the problem
