1-12 308 bullet recommendation

OK guys and gals. I have a Remington 700 xcr long range tactical in 308 with a 26" 1-12 twist barrel. What is the heaviest bullet I could run in it. It really likes 155 amax's but I would like to run heavier. Any experiences?

not personal experience, but the Berger website has a1:12 listed for the 185 VLD and Juggernauts

Just started using the Berger 185 Jugs in a 1-12 twist and have been very impressed. Was using 155 Scenars. Thought twist was too slow but does not appear to be the case.

At least in my rifle.

You can run pretty much anything up to the 185Jugg with a 1:12

As stated already pretty much anything under 185. One thing to take in consideration will be OAL. Are you planning on running from the mag or single shot only.

I won a tournament shooting Begers out of a Bartlien 30" 12 twist Barrel 5 years ago.

I was using the 190 VLD's. Everybody says I was messing up until I step up to the stage and accepted my metal.

I have 4 308's with spare barrels waiting for use. I have found they shoot anything from 110 grain up to 210's. The 210's would hold a group @ 1 1/2 group @ 100 yards. I was my hunting gun and I believe my first Savage rifle. I remember I paid $400 for the rifle inc. a cheapo scope!
