Chris...

Hi there I'm right down the rd from AEDC Live in Manchester. I went to your forum on the classes and didn't see a "F" class do you guys not hold "F" class shoots? Not that I could make it this upcoming weekend anyhow I have a match in st Louis to attend, I'm just curious to why there are no "F" class shoots this weekend....

James,

Every long range match we hold welcomes F class as a rifle catagory, without exception. The "prone match" designation only specifies the class of highpower shooting, across the course or prone), not the catagory of the rifles allowed. If F class is missing, it was an oversight.

I will say that F class will not be eligable to win THIS match. This match is to determind the high resident prone, sling) shooter. The state F class championship was held in AUG. That said, F class is encouraged to attend. If there are enough F class shooters, and there always is at AEDC, they will be awarded prizes in their catagory per NRA award rules and TnSSA rules. No different than SR, Any or Palma shooters. The only thing they cannot take is the title of state champion or match winner, as this is the championship for NRA Prone, sling) shooters.

I hope that answered your question.

Thanks guys for answering my question, not being a high power shooter I didn't quiet understand your format.
I hope tyo one day attend one or more of your matches if it doesn't happen on same days as my IBS 600 yd matches.
I would want to build or design a cartridge thats not so hard on barrels as your formats take a toll on throats and at over 500.00 for a barrel and chambering I need to find something competitve yet easy on the throats. I really don't want to ruin one of my Bench grade barrels thats capable of shooting under 1.5" at 600 yds and the possibility of taking another record on popping rnds down range at 600 and 1000 yds as you guys do in the times you do. I know a couple guys who shoot with you folks and they keep asking me to come shoot and maybe I'll get something together to join you guys.

Anything in the performance category between a .223 with heavy projectiles and a .300 WinMag pushing 190s will work. This means .308s, 30-06s, 6BRs,w/100+ grain low drag projectiles), .260 Remingtons, 6.5-.284s, 7-08s, .284 Wincheters, etc. will work.

As for barrel burners, you really should really reread the interview with Jerry Tierney. Jerry's rifles were restocked highpower rifles. Same action, same barrel, different stock.

My 6BR has over 800 rounds down the pipe and the throat has moved .007". I'd say that it would be the polar opposite to almost all of my 6.5x284's. Cheap to shoot, extremely accurate, no recoil.

Like Asa said, there is a host of calibers available that will get you 2000+ barrel life.

Looks like the weather is going to be great. The Guard cleared the range.

Hope all that attaned have a great time. Shoot well.

Currently my calibers in my switch barrel are as follow.

22-243
22 Dasher x2 1 barrel 1200 rnds 1 barrel 150 rnds
6 Dasher
6-284
6.5-284

The 22-243 I'm pushing 80 grn Sierra's out at 3650 fps
The old 22 Dasher I'm pushing 80's from it at 3400 fps
The new Barrel 3300 fps
The 6 Dasher don't have a clue have near 300 rnds and stil lno acurate load
The 6-284 107 Sierra's 3300 fps
The 6.5-284 147 CR 2880 fps

I have a 30 boo boo but it's too heavy for your classes as the rifle weighs 65 lbs or there about.
I'm looking into getting another chambering in a 6 BRX but we'll see what gives. I have 2 barrels now at a gunsmith one a Krieger 8.5 twist for a 6.5-284 and another Hart 12 Twist in a 30 cal for a LG boo boo.
Pretty much everything I have is dedicated to Bench rest type shoots I do happen to have some factory chamberings in a 223 and a 308 but doubt highly they are going to be consistent to 1000 yds.

James,
I can't believe you have all those neat toy's, live that close to AEDC, and haven't been there to shoot f-class. You don't know what your missing.
