  1. Pay it Forward

johnfred, you should be able to do pretty good with those. You should be able to get in the 2650-2750 fps range with H414 or similar. Enjoy them!
  2. Pay it Forward

Heard from the company insurance today. They've divided it up into two different categories - The vehicle (which the guy I was talking with thinks they'll total it just by the photos) and the structure damage. Now if I can just get them out here to adjust for the damages. I may call the guys at...
  3. Pay it Forward

Bc'z - picked up the mail today. Thanks again! deepwater, I'll get yours out to you tomorrow morning.
  4. After the fire

So, it's been a little warm here in Texas. 108, 108, 107, 108 etc for the last 2 weeks. This past Thursday, it warmed up a bit more, at least at my house. My company truck caught fire and pretty much burned to the ground. It caught the garage on fire as well. And though the fire was limited to...
  5. Accurate Shooting or Accurate Cost?

I'm a hunter that is interested in accuracy. I have some rifles that are in the ball-park of what some guys pay for their competition guns. Not because they are 'better' made iron, but because I like pretty wood. Some rifles I'm happy with a 1 MOA group at 100. Others HAVE to be as good as I can...
  6. Pay it Forward

Still have a box of 7mm 150gr Sierra GK's if someone wants them for a hunting rifle or just for plinkin'.
  7. 6.5x55 imp?

I like the accuracy I get from my hunting rig; Model 70 action, Pac-nor 22" barrel. 2800 fps with IMR4350 and the 142 ABLR. Can't imagine how much tighter it could get in a full-on F-class or other target rig.
  8. Optimal case to push 147 ELD?

If you really want a 'challenge' in reaching your goal, don't leave out the 256 Newton! ;)
  9. Tennifer, melonite, salt bath treating...

That s**cks. I have a Mod. 19 Smith that had all of the bluing rusted/rubbed off from storing in a Galco leather holster. Just aggrivating.
  10. Powder comparison - Reloader 23 vs ??

Thinking of trying this along with some 4451 and H4831 in a 256 Newton. Case capacity on this old warhorse is 59.2 gr of water. Y'all have answered my question. I was hoping it was in the same area as 4451 and 4831. Now all I have to do is figure out where to start!
  11. Optimal case to push 147 ELD?

My Swede was built on a Win Mod 70 long action. The Lapua cases fit just fine.
  12. Powder comparison - Reloader 23 vs ??

I picked up a pound of Re 23 back when powders were hard to find. I tried it in a couple of rifles - 25-06 and a 30-06 but found better loads. I've tried to find a burn rate chart that shows similar powders but it seems there isn't really one (or more) out there to find. Any idea about where...
  13. Pay it Forward

Thanks for the ABLR's! (is that pronounced 'Ablers'? Seems appropriate for this crowd - a bunch of enablers all of us!) Sierra GK 7mm 150 GR up to pay it forward
  14. Pay it Forward

johnfred - 7mm bullets out today. ETA in southern kentuckiana is Friday via pony express or something. If those 129 ABLR's are available, I'll take them if mike in ct doesn't want 'em. I'll put up a full box of Sierra GameKing 7mm 150gr BT if the 6.5's come through
  15. Pay it Forward

    7mm ABLR to Johnfred
  16. Pay it Forward

But it's a good enough excuse to go get you a 7mm...:p
  17. Pay it Forward

I'll play. I have a full box of 7mm 168 gr Nosler ABLR. Free to a good home. First public 'I'll take it' followed by a PM get's them.
  18. Magnetospeed

The only 'protection' I give the bayonet on my Magnetospeed is to make double-certain it's out of the way of the bullet's path. Other than that, strap it on and go forth and measure velocity.
  19. Multi-Radial Rifling — True Innovators or Spin Doctors?

Charles Newton built his rifles with the 'Metford' rifling. I've got one and looking down the barrel you can barely tell there's any rifling. Soon as the dies get here, I'll put it to a test.
  20. Fastest known bullet speed?

Didn't someone back some 30-40 years ago try loading a 22 in a 50 BMG brass or something of that size? Estimated well over 5000 fps but couldn't prove it as bullets kept coming apart.
