Is it possible/practical to get one of these old chronographs repaired? I have one that will no longer power up.
  2. Barnes 145 gn Match Burner 6.5

Anyone using these bullets? If so how do they perform, and where did you get them? Natchez is the only place I have seen them. AMMOSEEK does not even list them.

  4. Teslong Borescope... what a suprise...

Amazon has a $50. model but also has a note that a newer model is available for $75. Anyone know what the difference between the two is? Is the unit complete and ready to use or is additional software required?
  5. Ruger Precission Rifle vs Savage BA Stealth

I am considering a new rifle and am looking at these two. Any comments on either? How do they compare?
  6. CAM OVER

I think this is very good advise. I would add that lubing inside the case neck is an important part of the process. On lube brand, I tried some Imperial wax, and while I liked the process better, the results were not a good as with RCBS lube 2. Cases enter the die with much less pressure with...
  7. Once loaded unfired brass necks cracked?

If this is never fired brass, it definitely is not normal/common. Is it possible that your notes are incomplete and the brass has been fired several times?
  8. Powder shelf life

I also have an unopened "pop top" can of rl 21. Is that what you are using in your 243, or were you referring to the 4831? I am looking for a use for the RL21, my choices are 22-250, 243 Win, 308 or 6.5CM. Any suggestions?
  9. RH in reloading room

I live in the NorthEast, about 25 miles inland. Not a particularly dry climate. I inherited several pounds of various powders from my brother when he died in 1992, he may have had some of them for several years before I got them. I am just now in the process of using them up to conserve my...

  11. Buying Quality brass vs Time to prep cheap brass

For some background: I have ordered some Lapua brass and am suffering from buyers remorse even before I have received it. I question whether my skills and shooting habits justify the expense. If I have made a mistake, perhaps someone else can profit from this thread.
  12. Buying Quality brass vs Time to prep cheap brass

LOL! I'm not asking permission, I'm asking if premium brass offers advantages other than less prep time.
  13. Buying Quality brass vs Time to prep cheap brass

To rephrase the question, I am an RSO at a shooting range and so I have a good supply of brass (when the range is open). I also enjoy my time at my reloading bench. What reason would you suggest that I have for buying higher quality brass?
  14. Buying Quality brass vs Time to prep cheap brass

It would seem to me that if one is willing to spend the time with brass prep on cheaper brass, the results on target will be a good as those with top of the line brass. Am I correct, or am I missing something?
  15. ANYONE LOAD FOR 303 SAVAGE?

The 311 ammo came from major ammunition manufacturers.
  16. ANYONE LOAD FOR 303 SAVAGE?

Interesting question. I did a little looking and a couple of places indicated that the bore has always been 308, but initially some ammo was made with 311 bullets to increase the pressure and therefore the velocity.
  17. School me, Small base die

Doesn't the small base die just size the case diameter smaller, rather than the length of the case? I would think that your firm bolt lift would be caused by the excessive case length, right? It does not seem to me that small base dies would help you.
