    I would try a different primer. You may have a bad batch. It seems to me that if the primer mixture was good it would not just partially ignite.

    A sooty case is often a sign of a under pressure load, but I don't see enough soot here to indicate that. I don't see anything to worry about.

    It may be a good idea to shoot this again. As was already mentioned, it seems odd that as powder charge is increased, all the rounds have a lower POI.

    Generally, brass is sized to be .002" shorter than the chamber. To find chamber size I use an EMPTY case with a USED primer that is just started into the primer pocket. I seat the primer by chambering the case and closing the bolt on it. The primer will likely be a little proud of the case...

    What other options do you have? I doubt that a week or less will make much of a difference. Fill the containers to keep out as much air as possible, and hope for the best.     I just got a new Bergara B14 Hunter and was surprised at the amount of copper in the bore. I trust the shop I bought it from and don't believe that I was sold a used rifle but made me wonder if the factory test fires all rifles or randomly selects some to be tested.

    I'm in the same boat. It is a woodlot where I cut my firewood. Only 3 season use as the shooting benches are 1/4 mile in from the road and snow prevents winter use. Just cut out to 600 yards this summer. I think that I have room to get out to 700, then I will be close to the top of the hill...

    No offence intended, but I read statements like this often, and I always wonder how much checking is done to verify that this is true. Given the number of variables involved, this seems like a high bar.

    I assume you are concerned with excessive working of the brass. If it were me, I would try using the small base die once and see if it cured the cycling issue. Then use it as necessary.
