What makes a powder not shoot good

Caliber, bullet weight and style, bore condition and etc? My only experience with BLC2 was years ago in a .222 and was a disaster. Pressure peaked way too early and was inconsistent.

    Accurate 2015 Lot to Lot??

Pretty much why I buy 8 pounds of any Accurate powder at a time. It always seems to shoot faster in my rifles than the charts would lead you to believe. AA2015 always hit my targeted speed at least 1 grain under chart values. AA2200 I use a lot and it is pretty close to chart. The real surprise...

    Carry advice

Same here. Changed to a 5" 629 and much more convenient. My shooting buddy questioned why I chose the 5"...I told him because it isn't the 4" or the 6". He's still scratching his head over that reasoning.

    22-250 reloading brass failure

Suggesting that would have been too hard? We try to help people here, not shame or ridicule them.

Where does my bullet hit the ground?

Yep...figured 1.5 inches and probably still guess work.

Where does my bullet hit the ground?

By my figuring and playing with several variables in Strelok, impact should be around 412 to 435 yards...and I don't guarantee that!

    22-250 reloading brass failure

Glad to hear it. I wish seating dies for 99% of cartridges didn't have the crimping option. It gets too many new people into trouble and is absolutely unnecessary in the majority of cartridges. Making it even worse, crimping requires all cases to be trimmed to the exact same length to be...

    22-250 reloading brass failure

Look closely at the picture...extreme crimp nearly digging into bullet. Back that die out and adjust seating depths with the seating stem only. As said above, there is no reason to crimp bullets for a 22/250. I adjust such dies by running a sized case into the die while it is at least two or...

    Lead ls Still KING!

The telephone company I where I worked for 27 years had purchased several local companies that had lead-sheathed aerial cable. They proceeded to modernize with buried plastic-sheathed cable and junked the lead stuff as they tore it out. We ended up with a huge scrap pile at the warehouse for...

Cleaning nickel brass with stainless pins?

.44 Magnum, .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .17 Remington, .223 Remington, .243 Winchester and 7 BR...all at least 20 years old and still shooting. Neck turned to clean up inconsistencies. Never have seen a sign of flaking or other issues. Certainly no die damage. Have a few .22-250s around too, just can't...

Cleaning nickel brass with stainless pins?

I usually only run nickel brass in my tumbler (corncob media) very rarely unless very dirty. I only run it for about a half hour and maybe give the necks a quick twist with 0000 steel wool to clean them up. One of the benefits of the nickel brass is ease of cleaning.

22-250 bullet to brass problems advice

Should be a tight fit and require pressure to seat it...just not so much you collapse the neck of the case when seating the bullet. Your sizing die probably has an expander ball on the depriming pin. That should give you plenty of opening for the bullet to fit.

    Best Kinetic Bullet Puller

I have tried most and really see no difference among them. All have crappy holders (easier to just use the correct shellholder instead) but manage to do the job. After spending hours trying to pull 25-grain .17 Remington bullets with notably poor success. I switched to RCBS collet style pullers...

    Lost tools

Literally just happened to me! Looking for the case-neck turning head for my old Lyman trimmer...moved it out of the way while looking for it twice. Decided I would probably better not do any reloading today if that's the best I can do!

    Starline Brass report

Use Starline for my .44s and .45 Colt. Great stuff. Just got some .223 brass from them. First rifle brass I've tried from them. After measuring lengths and neck thickness on the first 50, I gave up for the rest... all were dead on my targeted dimensions for both! Saved a lot of trimming and turning.

I had a visitor yesterday! Picture added

Been there - sort of! Had a guy offer me a Colt Thunderer (.41 caliber 1877) for $50. He was a contractor for the company that I worked for and needed gas money to get to his next job. I told him I would meet him with the money after work (not doing that on work premises). He never showed...
