Seems to me they're still making plenty of it, just a different way of packaging it under their "Premium" line of ammo. Why did Federal quit making this ammo , they were making the best ammo you could get , in my opinion . Did they lose the recipe ? OR was it a bean-counter thing ? 22rf , 900 series

LOL. . . thanks. I didn't notice where this thread was coming from.
I don't think Federal ever made the UM1??? What I had used and still have some left was made in Germany, apparently rebranded RWS cartridges. The really shoot well! Seem what I have was at the end of their relationship with RWS???
I still have some that I use sparingly

That was the Match (900). They also made Ultramatch (UM1) that came in plastic slide-out boxesThis is what I'm talking about lot#900View attachment 1748741
Infrequent reader of forum titles as well? You are in the rimfire section, not a centerfire section. Don't feel bad though, look at post #2........same issue!my HB savage liked the white box FGMM, 168. I have a few boxes of them. I did shoot some lighter 308 GM match, 150 something, minute of palm of your hand at 100 yards!! the 168gr was easy .3 and less moa. I think my best was .19 and quite a bit .25 groups. Gee, back then I think my buddy and I fired 5 shot groups!
Got zero to do with the “ real” stuff.Seems to me they're still making plenty of it, just a different way of packaging it under their "Premium" line of ammo.

Not true, tooling subject to wear gets rebuilt just like ELEY, after all the bitching about domestic match ammo, they invested big, never sold enough, took a bath, never to return, and sold off all the equipment. That was the Match (900). They also made Ultramatch (UM1) that came in plastic slide-out boxes
As far as why they stopped making it? Everything I've read is that the tooling wore out and they decided to not replace it
