Does anyone check for bullet concentricity (runout) anymore?

Every time. I sort by runout. I have found that .001 and .002 are indistinguishable at 100 while .003 does open up. For the most part by the time i have reached .003 i am at 90% or more sorted. Then the 4’s and 5’s are fowlers, zeros and velocity.

In all my years I loaded a batch of 46 Lapua 6 BR. 45 rolled .001 and the stragler loaded .002. Best i have ever done. I neck turn ALL my brass and on my accuracy calibers i FL size with honed necks and no expander ball.

I'm surprised at how many of us still check concentricity, or at least admit to doing it.
I very occasionally check a batch of reloads if I think I have reason to.

I did check each round for a year or so, purposely marking the ones that were the outliers to see if there was any difference on target. There really wasn't a difference that would justify the extra time I spent doing it.

I should add that I considered an "outlier" to be anything with more than 2 and a half thou (0.0025) of runout.
I'd get maybe 5% in that category of all the rounds I loaded.
That's with Lapua brass. I use other brass for hunting or varmint loads, the Lapua is generally reserved for target use. I've not measured runout with other brands.

I recently re-visited the expander mandrel rabbit hole, vs using an expander button. Since that can affect concentricity, and the tool is sitting on a shelf in front of me anyway, I checked the loaded rounds.

The rounds with cases that were prepped using the expander mandrel had higher runout on average than those prepped with an expander button. Go figure..
But, as I said earlier, I don't think moderate runout has a measurable difference at the target in my experience, which is casual F-class.

Does the seater die play much of a role on the ones with some runout?

With today’s high quality dies, tools, components is it even value added?
i have the sinclair and i have trouble keeping the case pushed down on the bearings so im getting the actual correct reading.. mabie i need one of them that have the big wheel.
dont use mine much but i would much more i think. ill try the one i got on some loads today.
