Theres an episode of Ultimate Reloader where he duplicates that Berger OTM load. Might be able to get it done for less than $2 per shot.I just tried some! I just wanted to see how well I was doing with reloads and how good the mfg stuff is.
Keep in mind I have a long throat (0.230") barrel for shooting 90gn stuff. The photo is the result. 100yd. Top group is the Berger ammo, ten rounds. the top and lower left are the first two rounds out of a cold barrel. The other two groups are 90VLD bullets, only 5 rounds each. Middle group is a lower vel load that I used as a comparison to some previous data. The bottom load was a higher vel load that had proved ok before. Still not fully tuned, but closer.
Needless to say, I was quite impressed, especially since the jump on that factory load has to be over 0.100", maybe 0.150". FWIW, the factory load is better than most of the 88ELD loads I've tried with this barrel.
FYI, the box of cartridges cost me just over $40 for 20 rounds.

I would hope so. Throat length is closer to what the factory stuff was designed for.
The 75gr BTHP (of which there appears to be two versions, the T2 usually found with cannelure and loaded in the Frontier and the sleeker non cannelured T1) both shoot great in my issf chamber no matter the COAL. Great bullets and an even better chamber, really brings the .223 into a whole other league.169 Freebore is not real close. My opinion is that 75 HORNADY HP shoots the same no matter the throat. And that's a great bullet. And Frontier is made by Lake City.
Not to mention it's $15 a 20.

I’d love to try some Bergers through my .223s…but I’m not interested in having to take out a second mortgage in order to buy a case. Was watching a recent video on UR and decided to try some of this Berger ammo for one of my 1/4" 10 dot challenge projects. Supposed to be the most accurate available. Anybody else vouch for that? Whatta Hobby!

Well, then I’ll sell you some 223 ammo that shoots as good as you want. $10/round, sold only in 5 case lots, very exclusive, and I’ll throw in a free rifle. You are responsible for the scope.Enjoyable part for me is that I worked for over 60 years and started out putting bucks away for retirement and worked until I was 75 now I get to enjoy things and not have to worry about how much something costs. That is the least of my worried. Whatta Hobby!
Yeah, me too. Oh, it wouldn’t break me financially to buy a case in reality. With my luck, however, they would prove to be so superior that I’d get hooked on them. Now, THAT might prove to put my financial well being in jeopardy!Enjoyable part for me is that I worked for over 60 years and started out putting bucks away for retirement and worked until I was 75 now I get to enjoy things and not have to worry about how much something costs. I was asked if I still had this picture from a few years ago.
This target (shot before I bought my ShotMarker) was shot at 200 yards, 15 rounds with an UrbanRifleman 169 ISSF barrel.
This ammo has been very accurate for me when I am too lazy to hand load.
Quarter for reference and no it is not hiding any holes....
