What's up with Remington, are they gone again?

I have had several FFL dealers that have been to various dist shows last year and this year, tell me that they are closed again, due to making total crap rifles. Is that so. I have seen guys selling some barreled actions for parts, due to the poor quality. Anyone know anything about this?

With the clones, nobody has a use for one.

Thanks for the footprint Remington, but you did this to yourself.

Never a good thing seeing an iconic USA company go away but I guess, don’t suck and you won’t have to worry.
Agreed. Credibility is difficult to reestablish once lost to put it mildly.

They'd have to 'hit home runs' for a decade to get 'back in the game' IMO.

Weatherby, browning, savage, tikka, Bergara, Christiansen, CZ, Springfield, seekins, Ruger, probably a couple I don’t remember. All still relevant. But the most copied, important, historical one of all, can’t get out of their own way. Gotta innovate.

This is what happens when you let Bean-counters and Hedge Fund Managers take over a firearms company .
Yes…Profit in extreme…Quantity over Quality.

I remember well Edwards Deming (noted economist and quality management proponent) was unsucsessful at convincing Ford Motors to institute Quality measures and inspections in their manufacturing process ( Ford management refused to stop an assembly line to correct something). He also took his ideas to Japanese manufacturers, which readily welcomed such ideas since they were rebuilding after WW II. We all know what happened after that - Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Komatsu, Mitsubishi, etc..

Tragedy. I love my older Remingtons even some of the not so old olds like the LVSF, VSSF, AWR, Ti 700s and such. So many iconic firearms with such a storied past that it’s hard to imagine how they aren’t bouncing back. There is a success story waiting to happen with a Remington if the right management ever get into place. If not then the may have a place in history right next to the dodo bird.

It’s not late yet but the it’s not looking good right now.

People don’t know or care who owns the company. All they care about is price and quality. Remington’s name used to be synonymous with affordable quality. That reputation has been squandered. The word is out and consumers have gone elsewhere. I certainly have.
