What do YOU want in a Match?

More fun shoots like Groundhog and egg shoots, one day and less than 35 rounds for the match, don't like firing off 100 rounds for the match especially 2 day matches. saves barrels and reloading supplies. just my 2 cents input.
How does this apply to the aforementioned prerequisite for what competitors want in a conventional prone match in the original post?

what do you want in a match was the topic.
The original post, which was apparently not read by several, specifically called out that this pertains to a conventional Mid Range/Long Range prone match format. No eggs, no marmots, a hell of a lot more than 35 rounds, and a real competition under a sanctioning body.

We are flying to matches from Alaska and life to short to show up to a piss poor ran match. Our club when I first joined it was a lot of standing around missing the hot time to shoot. Then when I made it on the board I made sure and still do we will always make our hit times. We try to have the rule book readily available for shooters. But we also put out in our safety brief it’s the shooters responsibility to know the current f class/highpower rules. I will say with the use of e targets the MD needs to reiterate if a shot does not register the shooter needs to ask for a provisional after it’s been verified there was no crossfire. I heard about things happening in Lodi this year shots not “registering” or shots ending up on other targets and no one fessing up and they shoot again without asking for a provisional. That kind of stuff I would never go back to a place that ran matches like that.
I was at Lodi and found it to be very well run. There were typical issues but very few for such a large crowd. I am sure there were dishonest folks shooting because they shoot just about everywhere.. that has nothing to do with the way the tournament is run… shooters not owning up to cross fires are allowed to get away with because the person scoring for them have no balls.

With clubs going paperless and using the shotmarker score report. So getting harder and harder to have “scorers” paying attention to the shooters anymore when they aren’t writing down scores. Technology is great but it’s made us lazy and over reliant on shotmarker. CMP you still have score on score cards and mail your score cards in.

I removed my post I see it was not of the topic being discussed, my mistake.

Merry Christmas

For f-class, I would like to see squadding be a random drawing instead of using match director's "discretion", especially for national, regional, and state type matches. Benchrest has been doing the random drawing for years as they recognize that there are some firing points on a range that do have an advantage. We should also probably be moving firing points after every target, like benchrest. That would be unpopular, I know, but it would allow everybody to get a shot at the entire range. And lastly, if there are multiple relays of shooters in a class, then everyone stays with the same shooters on a relay for the next day but your relay number changes. This gives everyone a chance at the first relay for at least one day, and then keeps others that have already had the first relay from getting it again. Anyway, this might be off topic for this discussion, feel free to delete if so.

All that counts where we shoot is the traditional paper score sheet and we use shotmarker. At National in Lodi we were responsible as scorers to watch the shot.. I got into a situation where my shooter claimed the shot marker missed his shot however an official looked into the system found the shot very low on target ( I wasnt zoomed out enough as scorer) anyway the speed and angle etc was checked.. the shooter swore shot marker was wrong.. anyway scorers were in the thick of it..

All of the above. But I'll add, E-targets have made matches run way too fast. I'm not suggesting a match take all day but the goal shouldn't be to be finished by 10:30 AM. I feel extremely rushed then.
At our Highpower matches, lots of entrants could be heard discussing, or engaging in small talk about the match running quickly and getting done quickly/early. Possibly, if that's what is wanted, perhaps those people should stay home to fix the toilet, etc. That can reduce the match time to zero. Perhaps, fixing the toilet is a more enjoyable way to spend one's time. It also cuts out reloading time and firearm cleaning time.

Heck man.. I’ve seen so much mirage on the first relay couldnt see the rings at 1000.. like shooting at a floating blob….

Honestly I would like a little more time between strings
maybe 5 -10 more minutes between strings, take a leak, clean rifle if needed, have a snack, get rid of scope eye fatigue etc
Finishing by 2:00 pm is great but,
not feeling rushed from start to finish and finishing by 2:30 would be even better
I kind of want it to be a more relaxing event, get to talk to other shooters in between strings what they are using while they are using it as opposed to after they have packed everything up etc

I miss the pits. snack time, conversation time, cool down time, bathroom break.
we run 2 relays, and like others feel rushed. I'd like the 3 relays and just go sit in the pits and let the e-targets do there job. We have to go to the pits and change yard targets anyhow.

The first few matches seem rushed and hectic. Come on out and shoot with us a few more times and once you get the hang of how everything runs you'll find you have a lot more time for all those things. The pits are also a great place to BS and talk a lot.

Besides Short Range Benchrest, how many shooting Disciplines have a mandatory minimum time from when you leave the shooting line and you are due back up again?

I know we started late that last Match due to the fog and used our dwell time up there in the morning
I figure that may have had something to do with it
the dwell time between strings seemed like barely enough time to hop in the truck and go to the pits and get ready to start pulling targets.
Being able to prep, maybe review log notes, or make notes,
or clean in between strings would be kind of cool.
its not a big deal really, it just felt rushed from start to finish, not complaining either way.
the string of fire time seemed perfect which is more important
