Digital powder dispenser

Ive used the RCBS charge master for years.
It was horrible untill i purchased an attachment for the end of the dispenser from a forum member here who makes them.
That little piece of aluminum and brass was a god send. Thank you. I forgot the members name

Anyway ive had that dispenser for probably over 15yrs now.
I remember an article with programs you could enter to speed up the dispenser.
But never pursued the option.
I dont know if it was a hack that would burn up the motor , or a real internal program adjustment that was an option.
I suppose one call to RCBS and they will tell me.has any one used this option on there dispenser? .
I love the dispenser its just slooooow.
Is the new RCBS match master faster?
Has anyone made a more rapid digital dispenser in the last 15yrs.
The charge master does all i need it to do with more features i never ever use.
Im just looking for speed with accuracy not necessarily all the bells and whistles
Is there a dispenser that fills this description
With out going to a drop dispenser

Chargemasters work fine if one takes time to do simple mods and programming changes. I found with one of mine that a 5.7x28 case with the base cut off works perfectly to improve overall powder drop. Push the case neck first in the discharge tube, it fits just right, and you are good to go. I gave one to my son and he loves the system.
Yes, the Matchmaster can be faster when programed for your uses. Programming mine with the help of a bluetooth enabled phone and RCBS app is a breeze. Whatta Hobby!

My chargemaster lite is about 20 years olf and is fast and accurate within their spec. It has worked great for me. I've also heard good things about the frankford arsenal unit but have never used it myself

What I do to speed up the time to dispense is use a Lee powder scoop that’s about 75% of the charge. Push the dispense button, wait until 3 grains are in the pan then pour in the scoop of powder.

If you are looking for speed have a look at this system… Not cheap but “Buy once… Cry once”… Even just adding the trickler unit to my Autotrickler not only sped up the throw time but virtually eliminated any over/under throw.
I you can find one used {Autotricklers do appear on the “For Sale” now and then} see if you can be quick enough to secure an Autotrickler unit.
If funds permit and you have time to wait, order the Ingenuity setup as demonstrated in this video.
FC John also has a video of using this system as well, one of the prototype early setups.
I have been told to expect that my order, mid 300’s, Should ship sometime in February…

Its a really cool tool, RCBS did nice job
I was just curious to what the industry has been doing with digital powder dispenser
That picture of the Match master dispenser WOW! Is the fancy..
Any one have the new one from hornady?
It looks like a coffee grinder attached to a scale
I read its faster and more accurate then the rcbs match master.
Is that information true, or nonsense

Love my chargemaster. At least 12 years old.
No mods.
But I’m never in a rush.

I did some trial and error mods on mine and it "seems" to be faster but I did not put a stop watch to it, You can always go back to default settings.

I have had my Lyman Gen6 for 4 years and have not had a problem with it. The only mod I have done is pot the buzzer with some silicone caulk to tone it down. Prior to this I owned the PACT dispenser until one of the motors went out. I never had a minutes trouble from it and it was dead on accurate 99% of the time. The PACT unit was really good.

The Chargermaster I bought when my Pact dispenser and scale died is why I now have an AutoTrickler V4.

Yes a Uniflow, a Little Dandy plus a FX 120-I is fairly fast and puts you “behind the wheel”.

For my money, as far as simplicity and accuracy, with speed you can’t beat the AutoTrickler V4. I’m in my 70’s and did not want to have to be a computer programmer, in order to work my powder dispenser, but I wanted speed and accuracy. You just cannot go wrong with an Fx120 scale and a V4. They are not the cheapest out there, but they run great and are very easy to work with.

Ditto what Timon^^^^^^ said. The AutoTrickler V4 works very well. I've had mine for 2+ years now and am totally satisfied.

Just a Search here would have found you the answer for programming the CM1500......I saved this before even getting mine but never used it as its speed is quite sufficient for my reloading technique:

Instructions provided by RCBS around 4/2/11 for Chargemaster 1500 Speed Adjustment:



1. Turn the Chargemaster 1500 unit on.

2. When 0.0 gn is on the display, press BOTH the ENTER and the EDIT MEM keys on the

dispenser at the same time. Hold for a second and then release. If done properly ADJUST

PARAMETERS should scroll across the display followed by HSP_A1 00015.68 (This number

represents the number of grains away from your entered charge when the tube will shift

from fast speed to medium speed. That is at 15.68 gn from your target charge the

dispenser will shift from fast to...

It's not a hack but an official adjustment to how the CM1500 works.

Ive had a Chargemaster for years. I’m loosing faith in it. I bought a FX120 and started double checking my CM drops. I’m beginning not to trust the weight displayed on the CM.

I have had a Chargemaster for a long time also. Just recently did a calibration check. These are the results. As you know, a CM can only report to the nearest 0.1 gn.
