What should I expect to pay to move a 1000lb safe 30 miles?

That will depend if the driver has to load or unload it. lol.
I paid $400 for a reputable safe mover to pick up from a garage and take a 1000lb Fort Knox about 20 miles and install on hockey pucks in a garage (yes they're one of the best to put a safe on). You know you paid the right amount and found the right people when they deliver and install it and you think you could've done it because of how easy they make it look...

Towtrucks and AAA are great for that,
If you also buy the guy a 24 pack ,
or add $100 or something along those lines
(since its not a vehicle)
Once I got a towtruck company to move a Conex box for me about the same distance
(They got cables and the hoist and can manipulate heavy items onto a flatbed)
Cost was $300
My poor attempt at a little humor.
I’m glad to see the real life examples by the other posters, way cheaper than I expected.

Around here used safes at yard sales are always a real deal because of the moving issue
Last one the drive from the garage was down hill we tipped it over on the tail gate ( praying it would not bust it off--used floor jack and blocks to raise the bottom then a bunch of guys to shove it on--slick bed liner was a must--rolled down the drive crammed on brakes and it finished loading itself--without knocking the cab off
Came home backed up to the garage crammed on brakes and it slid out --crow bar and blocks little at a time to right it until it slid off tail gate then stood it up praying it would not fall over--at this point it was beer break time--slid it over the next day to its final resting spot
Next time--I am calling "the man" we got way too lucky on a few of these stupid moves
The bulge in the ends of my tail gate always draw questions---like what the ???

In the last two weeks, both my grandson and I moved our safes. We muscled them onto a pallet, strapped them down, then with a pallet jack loaded them onto a 6'x12' trailer with a ramp. Strapped the safe/pallet/pallet jack to the trailer, and were headed down the road. In my case, on arrival at my destination (22 miles away), I had the pleasure of moving it across 150' of lawn, hopscotching 2 sheets of 3/4" plywood. All went as planned with no problems.
If I were doing it there would be a rapid unscheduled disassembly somewhere !
I’m not sure there’s any way to give you a reasonable guess, too many variables not listed in your post. Is the safe sitting in a place someone can back a trailer very close to it or is it inside the house and needs to be moved through several doorways? Are you looking for a professional service that is insured or are you looking for anybody with a truck?
I have moved mine in the past with an appliance dolly and the help of a couple of good friends.

We'd usually do it for a couple hundred bucks, and that involved picking it up from a garage door or driveway and dropping it in a similar spot. the fork lift WILL NOT fit into a standard garage, mast being around 11' tall.
If you have a lumber yard/home improvement store in your area, you might talk to them. I would often do the move when I was headed to or from another delivery on a near-by route. jd

When I picked up my new safe at Cabela's, I used the company flatbed with a lift gate. My boss (tall and big strong guy) was helping me move into the house using our appliance dolly. I was pulling the dolly up the front steps while he was pushing on the safe. The next thing I knew i had a safe laying on top of me on the porch, no injuries thankfully. After we got it off of me, all went well once he did not push so hard.
I moved my Fort Knox with just 1 other guy and it was fairly easy. We just used a flat bed trailer and I bought a 24 pk of cheap golf balls and some softballs I had left over. Tilt one end up and throw 3-4 golf balls under it. Start pushing it on the golf balls and put more under it. It becomes so easy to roll and turn. When the golf balls come out the back, just move them to the front. I used the softballs when we tilted it on to the flat bed and rolled safe until I tied it down. Make sure to bring a few boards that you can screw down so the balls don’t roll or they will! Golf balls won’t compress with all the weight and you can use them later when you go golfing, just like the Egyptians move big blocks
My original Browning safe was custom made in Utah and delivered to my home. The safe mover thought he could get it in the basement but the turn at the top of the steps was too tight and too dangerous. The safe had to go back to my dealer. I ordered a second Browning safe that was a bit smaller than I needed but at least it would fit. It still was a tight fit but doable. The mover had a hand-truck that walks safes up or down stairs. He did mention that I should sell the safe to the next homeowner because it was unlikely that he could get it out.
I was told that almost all gun safes are designed so that you can remove the door and reduce the safe weight significantly.

Professional "safe" mover, from detached garage, up front steps, back down to basement level.

When my wife & I moved 12 yrs ago we bought the 1ton gantry crane from harbor freight. Moved a 1980lb Fort Knox up three steps to the garage level, the onto and off of a utility trailer.

They charged me $400 when they brought it out 20 years ago.

Plus if you have one mistake that hurts someone or something doing it yourself, it may be a great value .
