Prayers for members in flooded areas of Texas

Kerrville got hit pretty hard. I’ve talked to all my friends and family and they’re all OK. Worries about the kids in the camps in Hunt are at the forefront, right now. There is a rumor flying around about a large group being missing. I hope it’s not true.

Seems like yesterday we just went through this in Western NC. Gods speed Steven and Alana. I may eat a uncrushable and a red bull for breakfast in your memory. He ate that every morning at work. I sure hope our sorry government helps them more than they helped us. My heart aches or them. Prayers sent for sure.

I have been praying for the folks in that area for two days now. When I see pictures of the lost children who are the same age as my grandchildren it brings tears.

I want to try to put this storm in context. I live about 60-70 river miles East of Kerrville near the Guadalupe River and Canyon Lake. We had about 1.5" of rain while the Kerrville area was being inundated. The storm moved slowly East toward us and yesterday we received a very active remnant of it. We had another 8" of rain in about 2-3 hours. The rain intensity was similar to any coastal hurricane that I have been through in the Houston area.

One big difference in the Texas Hill Country is limestone basement rock is just below very thin topsoil. In my area, topsoil is about 4" thick. Water runs off very quickly. I live between a usually dry creek and a drainage arroyo that collect runoff from the hills. Both of these filled deeply and had "haystack" type rapids in an hour or so. The water was moving very large rocks up to ~8" diameter within the normal flow channels along the roads.

This was the worst single storm event I've seen here in the nearly five years I have lived here. I was shocked at its intensity so, I have concluded that most of the people impacted upstream would not have been able to predict how quickly and how bad the flooding could get.

26' water rise in an hour. A girls camp has many missing, searching continues. Prayers for all including responders, protect all.
I think this portion is minutes, according to time stamp.

Tough times in Texas, to be sure. Last year they like to of burnt half the State, this year looks like they're fixin' to drown the rest...

My prayers, and God be with y'all.
