Early adapter of a rotary magazine as well to go along with that smooth action...Those Krags were so smooth...
My old man had several, the carbines were special.

I think Alex Wheeler said he was impressed with the hunting rigs he has built on 25 PRC.Back on the subject of a .25 caliber build, how about going modern with a 25-6.5PRC...??
I would be surprised if someone hasn't already trialed this as a Wildcat.
Ready supply of quality brass to start with and easy to form up.
Short action, though magnum bolt, efficient cartridge driving the 133gr Berger out of a 22"-24" barrel...
Good Hunting!![]()
Well duh, that's because the right choice is BOTH!!.its easier for a man to pick between two beautiful women of your choice then two cartridges .
If that's more oompf than you want, the 257 Roberts Ackley Improved should give you about 10% more powder capacity than a 25 CM. Sourcing good brass for Bobs might be a challenge though....Split the difference......25-284
First, the 25 Creedmoor is not a 22-250 necked up to 25 caliber. The base brass for the Creedmoor was not (though some claim they made Creedmoor brass from 22-250) ever the 22-250, at least in its final development. The .25Creedmor is a .22-250 necked up to .25cal. The .25-06 is a .30-06 necked down to .25cal....huge difference in case capacity and performance. The .25-06 will outperform the .25Creedmor especially with equal pressures.......remember you don't get something for nothing!
Good luck and stay safe.
I thought I might mention that the Hornady brass for the 25 Creedmoor sure looks exactly like Starline brass on the inside neck color. I would bet $10 it’s Starline with Hornady’s headstamp, lol!I’ve got one set of brass for the 6.5 Creedmoor that is small primer Starline. I was thinking if I did need extra brass for the 25 I could use that and the primer size would identify it sort of. Being the way I am, I went ahead and bought 150 Hornady cases and 2 boxes of 134 eld-m’s from Blue Collar the other day. Gotta start somewhere, lol!
Yes they do...The question is what do you want to use it for? Target shooting- creed, killing animals- 06. They don’t make any .257 hunting bullets over 120gr so there is that.
7mm Mauser brass from PPU will do, but you'll have to turn the necks. 6mm Rem. brass necked up to .257 also works, and without the neck-turning. Fire forming loads can be quite accurate. I wouldn't hesitate to use them for hunting. If that's more oompf than you want, the 257 Roberts Ackley Improved should give you about 10% more powder capacity than a 25 CM. Sourcing good brass for Bobs might be a challenge though....
