Unpolished Panda finish

Looks great. Now I can get it all slimy while I barrel it. LOL

How black are your hands? lol
Lol, I'm pretty strict about washing my hand to begin with, but I washed them at least 10 times, every time I changed grit! They're still discolored now.

What compounds did you use?
Thanks,
Mike
For final polish I ended up using Flitz, hand rubbed on a microfiber. I didn't have any new muslin wheels I wanted to sacrifice to metal polishing with rouge. I work in the plastics industry so my polishing tools are geared towards that. But otherwise this was maybe 4.5 hours total with bathroom and beer breaks, all hand sanding with various sticks and rods. I use Windex up to about 1200-1500, then switched to RemOil (any light oil works) to 2500. Final passes are all in one direction to keep the "J" scuffs from forming by going back and forth.

Saw your location, ever shoot at Sac? You can see this first hand by April when its ready to shoot.
I don't shoot there, but know where it is.
Where I live Up Country I have several options to shoot right near my house
From 600 yds out to 2200 yds. Plus no wait, cold range waits, rules, fees etc.
I just don't see the need to "Pay" for what I already have near me...
.... plus the extra drive when shooting is within 5 minutes of me ya know.
If the ranges started offering money prizes to recoup the cost of bullets, powder, gas, and fees I would likely enter and compete lol
But even if they did offer money prizes, when I shoot it is usually spur of the moment suddenly get an opportunity to go out, so often it is more like
"Hey I got to go home early today I think I'll go drive down the road real quick and test some loads"
Then I can drive back home, tweak the load, go back out verify and retest if need be.

Some of us love to shoot, compete and be with our like minded friends and don’t mind a $20 match fee that we can win back. Others just love to shoot..
I would NOT mind a $20 match fee at all
Last time I was going to Enter a Long Range Match ....
Fees would have totalled $160, Plus all the other associated costs.of food, gas etc
That would be at least $250
For as much as I like to shoot, I cannot afford several $160 match fees a month
So said ferget it
I'd rather put the money to more powder or bullets and just shoot at my leisure
Unless there's money involved, we're just shootin' for fun anyway right?
Until they start offering the money it takes to at least break even
in building a rifle, bullets, load development etc to compete....
I dunno, I just don't get it
Now for retired guys that have all the time in the world and can travel and go to all kinds of matches
Yeah I get that
-----And I really don't need trophy's collectin dust but the only Trophy I thought I'd like
is the Wimbledon Cup, So I got all ready to start preparing for that and started researching it and come to find out ...they use Open Sights for that.
So then I'd have to start my long range practice all over again but with open sights now.
(I'm still thinking about it)

Sacramento High Power/ F Class LR club matches are only $20 or $25 on the days we have lunch. A good bbq burger or hotlink, chips and a soda. And first in each class gets you your $20 back. Come on down!

The Wimbledon is an ‘any sight’ match so most people will be shooting scope.

Oh well dang, What I read said Open sights only
And there was a different competition for scoped rifles
Perhaps the Leech Cup?
what I read online was obviously incorrect, outdated maybe?

Good to know thank you!

I swear if anyone ever convinces me to polish another gun, just slap me! Seems that it never ends, lol!

Finishing up the polishing of the edge of my LOP hardware where I fit it to the stock. I still need to polish the bolt and shroud, but I can do that after shipping the stock out for paint. I'll probably go over the trigger guard as well.
