Wyman and Sylinda visited for 3 days. We spent time with his new woodstock custom 700. It has 3 barrels-6.5 Creedmoor,7-08 Ackley Improved, and 308. It started with a new RR receiver, new bolt handle tig welded and time, .062 firing pin, and a 3 pos safety. It has a Shilen trigger and an Anschutz bolt release. The barrels are Shilen. We only fired the 7-08AI and it shows promise. 1/2-3/4" 5 shot groups. I put together enough tools to let him do his own barrel changes.

He spent a lot of time with my 15 yr old Great Granddaughter and learned how to use one of his coyote calls. When he told Ava that he was going to call coyotes again with DJT Jr again next year she told him that she wanted to go with them.

They spent a lot of time talking politics. She is very very up to date on our political situation in our USA and being a very conservative person was right up Wyman's alley. They forgot about me for an hour. We will head his way in the spring when the weather gets better. He wants to cook steaks for us at the dugout and just sit around the fire and BS.

Below is the Benjamin jail that he lived in for 25 yrs. Sylinda told him it was time to move out and build her a house. They built a nice roomy old west style home. The jail is just his hideout, a collection of his traps, animal mounts and reloading room. We are really looking forward to the visit.

Coyote paw print on his belt buckle is Cool.

The reason for the Creedmoor. His Son shoots one and wanted to reload. I had a care package for him, 3 piece Redding dies, Lapua brass, and some hunting bullets. As a 3rd barrel for Wyman's rifle we were going to do a 6.5PRC. One of our members sold us a short action bolt for the project. As like a lot of the late model bolts, this one had no primary extraction. Wyman didn't want to carry a hammer with him to extract the round. We did the Creedmoor as we had the barrel and he could work up loads for his Son and himself. When ever Dan Armstrong gets back from his remote job in Alaska I will send the bolt to him and I think we will use it on one of his 722s.
I forgot the jail photo. I hope that it shows up.

Heck, I'm a sexually stable, conservative Christian, and even I finally got a Creedmoor. It looks like that cartridge is gonna be as ubiquitous as the venerable 30-06, and 308. And of course, since it has three times the effective range, is unaffected by wind, and delivers 2000 foot pounds of energy at 1000 yards, there is no downside. jd

I get it, the Creedmoor is not 5% different than a 260remington that I have owned 3 of and still own 2. If I hadn't already had 260s I would own a Creedmoor, but I see no need to get one at this point since I already own 260s. Mostly it's the attitude of Creedmoor owners that I disdain. A gun store owner that was a member here told of ordering an early Creedmoor for a customer of his, when the customer picked it up he told the LGS owner that he would be winning the local rifle matches from now on cause he owned the only Creedmoor in the county. How is it that such an attitude can come from zero experience, but just from reading something on the internet?

I've shot a lot of deer and hogs with the 6.5x47 Lapua. We wanted a little more powder capacity. The 260 is a pretty good cartridge, but I'm anxious to get the 6.5PRC chambered. I had a 6.5x55 and it was a one shot kill cartridge. I guess I like to chamber different things just to try them out.

Dugout from the front is looking well kept given the years on it and the old log water trough is a nice touch although starting to show its years. Should be good times down there and can't go wrong with steaks!

Actually this dugout isn't that old. Wyman and his brother built it for grins! Skunks and possums are their biggest headache. Sylinda and Wyman are out cutting mesquite for their 2 fireplaces. Wyman does the chainsaw and Sylinda does the hard part, loading the wagon.

Ya oughta ask him if he's gonna get a man-bun goin with that Creedmoor. :p I'm thinking of getting a pair of plaid shorts, and a dangley ear thingy to wear when I shoot mine at the range. jd

She's a keeper for sure...
