6 BR lapua brass

I feel like something is going on. It usually appeared every three months, and I haven't seen it in over 4 now. I sent an email to a Lapua from their website and got this response.

Also no offense, but a best seller doesn't mean anything. They stopped production of many great selling cartridges.Screenshot_20240624-103316.png

Do you shoot your 1st firing with a 'full house' load?
No, I hit all my brass with a lighter load the for the first time to harden the head. I found the accuracy and speed for the same load to be exactly the same as Lapua. But the Norma only make 6-8 loadings at pressures Lapua lives forever at. This has been probably 8-9 years ago. Maybe it’s better now. If you can’t get Lapua the Norma shoots great, just don’t try for the upper nodes that Lapua can shoot.

Now the factory Norma Dasher brass is a different animal. It’s already pretty hard. One moderate load and that stuff goes a long time. It does have just ever so slightly less capacity than Lapua so you can’t shoot the same load as Lapua.

I have 2 boxes i'd sell for $500. per box plus shipping :).

The amount of frustration Lapua 6br has caused me. I've had it in my cart and gone to check out and it was gone, several times. I usually would see it trickle in every few months, but that hasn't happened. I put myself on euro optics backorder list, so I don't have to go through that again. That was about 3 months ago though. It's gotta be coming soon. Right? Please? Haha

I don’t use near as much 6BR Lapua brass as some of you. I have some that is older than a lot of members here. It was gifted to me as 6.5BR, I necked it up to 7BR. Shot it as that, then I got a 6BR and necked it down. Then enter my interest in 22BR, I used it there in getting my sizing technique set up, even went on and skim turned the necks and fire formed it.
Then my interest sparked in the 20BR, some of the other 7BR brass and 6.5 just didn’t look right so I ran them over a mandrel for the necks and went on and sized all the way to 204. Oh I lost a few, but it was questionable anyway.
All in all on the 22 and the 20 I ended up with enough (20-40+) to use as a start point for some load work and test firings.
None of those old cases were ran with what would be called HOT loads, primer pockets were in good shape, annealed on a regular basis as well. I would not put even a guess at how many total firing are on some of that brass.
All along when I saw 6BR Lapua available I bought what I could and then some, ate mac&cheese along with hotdogs and chicken so as to be able to support my hobby.

Buy what you can when you can, ya snooze ya loose.

I have a new 6BR my first--I was lucky and found some Lapua brass but also bought some Peterson
After 4 firings with load of 30g Varget I have found --the measurements of both are very close after firing- I am able to use the same bump, same bushing , same mandrel-The Peterson is as accurate if not more so with my load--it is a tie at worst-- Both are delivering fantastic results however--I deprime in a separate operation--and have found that the Lapua primers are still normal to press out--the Peterson primers come out easier--If you deprime when sizing you may miss this--They seem to stay the same--they are not getting worse--I am not saying this is a problem--Just have observed that they are not near as tight as the Lapua. My load is not "hot" Primers look normal as can be
I have observed that the exact same load and all things being exactly the same the Peterson is dead on at 2820 and the Lapua runs dead on 2850 day after day side by side testing The Peterson averages approx 3/4 to 1 grain more H2O after firing so there is some very minor H2O capacity but it is not much at all when you average a larger number of cases
Not sure what any of this means--I think the Peterson is doing a fine job but I will continue to watch the primer pocket "feel" At this point I do not think it is a problem maybe more of a difference in original size?

People driving themselves nuts to find Lapua when Peterson is in stock:

If Lapua is better you’re going to need to work really hard to prove the difference.
