Started back shooting Rim Fire

I went back to it last year looking for an economical alternative to obtain more range and trigger time. I purchased a Tikka T1X and have been shooting it off a bipod at 50 yards at an A17 target with CCI Standard Velocity and having a lot of fun measuring myself albeit with less than optimum ammo.

I have no intention going down the "rabbit hole" on this endeavor, I just want to keep it simple, cheap and fun.

I really enjoy Rimfire and figuring out which ammo each gun like. Just purchased 3 new TC Classics in different configurations from an estate.

I just got back to rimfire myself. I got a Bergara BMR a while back never new they had rimfires. I've heard good and not so good about their center fires. Guess I'll find out what this thing likes if anything lol!

Had my first range trip today with my new CZ Varmint MTR. Off a bipod and rear bag at 50 it is scary accurate. Weather not optimum at 100 but still easily sub-moa with 4 different loads. Don't need another rabbit hole either. Trying to save money shooting small bore ain't easy because good ammo is pricey.
Mine should be here Tuesday from Area 419!!

I’ve started back shooting RF’s and man it made me realize how much work there is to shooting CF not counting the money saved.
It started with a bull barrel added to my 10-22, but got into it to heavy about 7 years ago. So much more fun than CF for me. I shoot long range steel out to 500yds. All that is needed is a good rifle and a scope that has a lot of adjustment and ammo that it likes. Say a Tikka T1X, vortex strike eagle, and SK long range. I have a CZ 455, Tikka T1X, Kidd Supergrade, and 2 Bergara B14R All like SK long range for matches. Eley Contact, CCI SV and Norma Tac22 for everyday shooting. I guess I went down that rabbit hole, but I love it.

I got my first Tac22 at a Rural King in VA. A LGS in SC had some older black box very cheap $29.99 / brick. I got 2 bricks to test. I have had some that shoots good, some not so good. This lot shot better than any Tac22 I have shot. 3 of us got all they had, all the same lot.

Not going down the rabbit hole, write that down and date it. Let everyone know how that works out for ya.
I stepped into the puddle of PCP air. I am neck deep now. A LOT to learn but am fortunate to have made good friends with some very knowledgeable folks.

I am on the fence of what to do as far as my next rig. Spend under $600, or near $2k, yet get equal or better performance out to 150 yards. Beyond that the $2k rig starts to take over. Watched a fellow shooting eggs at 500 the other day.

Let the negativity start, I have spent less on air this far than I did for 22RF chasing ammo that the rf liked. With some experienced folks guiding me, better groups now than I ever shot with any 22RF. Not looking back at this point.

Well stated JHS,
I haven’t went far down the air hole but most on here are rabbit holers!…. The ones that don’t go down a hole in one way or the other don’t have a passion for what they are doing! I work for a living so I use a ladder sometimes to enter the hole but I still find myself at the bottom of the hole at some point.

Just starting down the Rabbit Hole with this CZ 457 Varmint and having lots of fun testing ammo and now playing with what bag and front rest I want to use. I bought a Caldwell Rock and changed the bag to a small owl ear protektor bag. The gun was slipping too much in the supplied bag.

I just bought a medium rear protektor bag. I may have to buy a taller one but this will do for now.

I've been shooting the USBR target at 25 yards and my best score is 247 out of 250. Benchrest is so much fun and a lot to learn

22's. Kid stuff. ??? Yeah, they feed my inner kid. I think many of us (myself included) are adult kids. As a pup, I learned to shoot with a 22. Then I got older and had no use for the lowly 22. Now as an adult kid, I shoot a lot of 22. I run a Bullseye match and recently started a 22 only class that runs alongside traditional 22, CF, 45. I also run a 22LR long range silhouette match. 22's out to 200 meters. Sure, other people have shot their 22's farther, but it's still a challenge at 200 m, particularly if the wind blows.

22's are buckets o' fun. Lots of good reasons, not the least of which are cost and no need for handloading. Although I enjoy handloading, mostly, it can be a chore. 22 rifles don't really wear out either. You might say I've gone down that rabbit hole. I'd counter and say I was sucked down the rabbit hole!

Feed that adult kid residing inside of you! It's never too late to have a happy childhood.
