Ten cent bullets.

Can load for that!… or I won’t anyways especially for anything smaller than a 38 special!…I hate monkeying around with 9mm on down!… to small for big hands.

Their 40 caliber bullets aren’t much more.
hi josh— do you have that whole box loaded up by now?? if its 4500 that should only take 3 pounds of powder or so!!! youre a worker- hope wife and u r doing good after the move.
I HAD 2600 loaded rounds but then I shot 1000. I may not come to a point where they’re all loaded.
I’m doing a major shop clean out before the hot weather hits. I wanted to bank some ammo before I got started.
I was using the Everglades 124 FMJ. I just got 2k of the 115 to try.

which dillons do you have Wayne?
Hoz,
None right now, I went to work for ATK in 09 and could buy pistol ammo so cheap I decided to unclutter my bench and traded them off. I haven’t worked there since 15 , I got quite a stash built up in the 6 years I was there. But it’s dwindling now so found a 1050 I need to call the guy and figure it out. I have a Lnl ap and I got the bugs worked out and it loads my 44 mag pretty well but it’s no Dillon. I use to have a 550- and a 750. My gunsmith and shooting partner has a 650 and lives it, we was just discussing the other day he wants one more and suggested I do the same. I want another 550 but he told me just get the 750 but I want to check out that 1050 , you have any suggestions?

i see— i got a 550 and square deal but i dont want to load powder anymore progressively without a check somehow so i use my 550 for various 44 mag operations (not powder) and my square deal in 45acp not at all. i wouldnt buy a 550 anymore since they only have 4 die positions. i would go to the 750 with the 5 positions so could have seat and crimp in seperate positions and seperate position for powder check. if i cant have a powder check die i throw from my redding pm and then i can look down in all the cases with a light so i think your partner is right. the higher $ dillons (1050) dont have the No BS warranty either. it would be interesting to have a 1050 but for just me i dont need that much ammo so why spend the money on one. that $1700 more than a 750 machine buys alot of components (even now) — hope youre doing well these days.

i noticed the 38 bullets are about the same as 44 bullet (cast) cost so i just shoot 44 mag usually now.

no matter how hard i try i never seem to get organized.—after 60 years of trying ive given up.

see ya

I started casting a few years ago and have had some eye issues that I got resolved. I need to try some of my cast bullets to see if they can hit a barn before I make anymore. Got a bunch of loaded 9s but yet to shoot one. Josh I have bought 9 mm bullets from Everglades ammo but it was back in the really dried up bullet time and they were not that cheap.

I started using the powder coated bullets for pistol, ie Blue bullets. They have worked well for plinking and cost was not too bad( under .10 cents apiece).

i have not cast for a long time but have got about all the equipment and some metal. i need to get going on it and at least make all that metal into bullets.

Had a long day!….. many years ago when I worked for ATK I bought a 8 lb bucket full of new 38 special brass that had water spots on it from the wash area and a 5 gallon bucket of nickel 38 brass over the years I’ve used about half the nickel brass but never opened the Blazer bucket,… I did a few days ago and omg!… it had been thrown in the bucket wet I thought it was all ruined!.. it was a old ice melt bucket and it had a screw on lid with a gasket, I bought a sonic cleaner and a tumbler and went to work, I have processed over 8000 pieces of usable brass! 4500 ready to load and some more in its final process. When I get my 38 rifle I should have enough forever!…

sounds good- Youre getting a 38 special lever gun@?? i think id like that. i dont have any “pistol” cartridge levers but i think id like one. Should i sell my marlin/rem 336- 30-30 and get one in a ruger 336-30-30 ?? —. ive got all my 38 special brass stored because i have no 38 special only pistol and i now only use 357 brass in my 357 handguns. I need to get some kind of 38 special gun to use this brass—-lol

Yes sir you do!… I’ve had 45 and a 45/454 Casull , I bought a 44 magnum the other day and ordered a 38/357 so I’ll have a rifle for most of my pistol cartridges, I may order a 41 mag then I’ll have sets of everything but 32acp and 9mm

Well my 45 and 44 Magnum are Henry Big Boys my 454 is a 92 Puma , I told him to get me what he can find in 38 but I’m going to see if I can find one in a Winchester. I just bought a 1886 45/70 Winchester and it shoots really well. I would like another 86 or 92 in 38 but we will see.

I’m hoping the new Ruger made Marlin in 357-38Special turns out to be a Dandy. Don’t know if any have been produced yet.

I’ve heard there pretty nice. I had a stainless Smith&Wesson in my hands and almost bought it because it had a large loop lever and I have big hands, he had a blued Henry there it’s action was much smoother than the Smith, he sad I can get you a large lever Big Boy in , brass receiver and hexagon barrel for $60 more by Friday…. I guess you know what I did.

Yeah, I've heard of Dillon's breaking, but do you know anyone personally who ever had a problem? Heck, tens of thousands of rounds on my Dillon 650 and nothing's even come close to breaking, despite my multiple attempts with stupidity.
I shoot cast in my 380, 40 S&W, 10mm and 44 Mag. I have molds for 9mm and 45 but haven't tried them yet.
I powder coated 500 of my 44 mag bullets about 8 years ago and I'm down to my last few -- I'm a convert as a result.
I was planning on playing with powder coated 243, 7mm and 308 in my rifles this summer, with mil-surp powders because I'm a cheap bastige and I want to see how good they can shoot in my hands.

Joshb,
Where are you sourcing your bullets and 231? If it’s a secret I understand but I think I have some cast 158’s , if I remember correctly there’s lots of powders that work well in the 38 but like your 9mm I think they like Unique and 231, I’m guessing unique is unobtainable. If I can work a good load with 158’s and 231 I want to purchase 16 lbs , I may order a Lyman 158 die and cast my own bullets.
