Ten cent bullets.

We don’t watch TV anymore. We listen to audiobooks. I can sit in my reloading room and hear the book playing next to my wife in the family room. Keeping a good pace, it takes me 45 minutes to run 500 cases thru a sizing die. Over a week, it adds up.
I like it.

That’s cool buddy, if I was retired I would do the same thing.

Big decision time.

I use Bullseye in 38 spl., 9mm, and 45 acp. Have done so for 30 years or more.

I’m down to the bottom of my Bullseye. Given that Alliant powders are going to be unavailable, should I get one of those 8 lbs. of BE I mentioned in an earlier post? Could be the last time I'll see it for a long time. 8 lbs. would hold me over for quite a while.

Or, I can get Winchester 231 for about the same price. I have never used it, how has availability been in the past? Can I expect (hope for?) it to be available in the future? Is it made in US? Looks like a great replacement for Bullseye.

What would you do? I’m thinkin’ 231.

edit; yeah I know "Get both!"
No, not doing that. Other folks need powder too.

OK website sez made in USA. Shop has one-pounders only. I'll get 2 or 3 if I can

I might be wrong here but if the Chinese have control of the main ingredient for gun powder........well we may never see it again. JMO

I’ve been using W231 for a year in 9mm and 3 years in 40 S&W with good results. It meters well, too. It’s not fluffy. It’s like a squashed ball powder. I like it.

You can’t think that way,….. buy all you can!… if you don’t someone else will. I learned a long time ago not to procrastinate ….. buy buy buy and worry about it later.

I've never found myself in a position of lack.

Of course that's not to say things could become dire at some point.

+1 on the AA #5-#7-#9 covers many of my Pistol rounds.
The other day I saved a guys life!…. Bought a 8 lb jug of Aa#7 from him!… he had just bought it to load some 45/70 rounds!!!???…. I said what do ya mean?… reduced loads?… no he said full house loads I’ve used it for years….. uh no ya haven’t….. you was using Rl 7 not AA#7!… same thing just a different company like IMR 4350 and H4350….. not even close my friend!… once I proved to him he was wrong he thanked me and sold me the jug

So you baited me with the promise of info on 10cent bullets then it 3 pages of brands , models stats and recipes. Spill the beans on the cheap bullets!
Everglades ammo. Rocky Mountain Reloading. Both sell 1000 9mm 115 and 124 grain for around $100.

Can load for that!… or I won’t anyways especially for anything smaller than a 38 special!…I hate monkeying around with 9mm on down!… to small for big hands.

Edit:
That was supposed to say you can’t load for that!…

I loaded 1800 rounds with W231. After testing, I settled on 4.0 grains with a 124 jacketed bullet. All my little guns cycled it well and it left a fair safety margin under max.
Tomorrow I’ll be testing CFEpistol loads.

“That load I listed at today's prices is 21.8 cents per round with my brass. Or at my favorite shop I can buy equivalent Buffalo Cartridge Company ammo with new brass for 23.9 cents per round.”
Yup. It’s become better to just buy loaded ammo for 9mm, since the price came down. That would save hours of work.
hi josh— do you have that whole box loaded up by now?? if its 4500 that should only take 3 pounds of powder or so!!! youre a worker- hope wife and u r doing good after the move.

I've had a pound of red dot sitting on my shelf for years. Not much of a pistol shooter, but the way things are going I may as well just buy some Berry's plated and figure out which pistol I can load it in. 38spl, 40, 41. Just picked up 850 rounds of 9mm for $80 a couple weeks back from a friend who was in need of some cash. WW white box, Blazer brass and PMC Bronze. I don't even own a 9mm right now, but thats just a slide and magazine away.
