Francis Scott Key Bridge, Baltimore Md.

For the amount of traffic that port sees, the original bridge
design was flawed. Jackie made a good point in his earlier
post......I'd say, "Murphy's Law" in full effect.

Army Corp of Engineers is on site. Paying for the mess will
initially be out of our pockets but, Synergy Marine group and
it's assigned insurance would be used in any settlements.
Congress needs to deal with that.

What l heard fjb say was the federal government will rebuild the bridge.........what about the shipping companies insurance company paying for damages
Biden was asked that question and he said they are not going to wait. The government will pay for it 100%. Guess they will deal with the insurance company and owners as time allows. Priority is getting the shipping lane reopened.

Yeah, this needs to start happening now. By the time the lawyers and
insurance companies get together over this, It could be years before a
dime is paid out.

This will be the first person to have his colon examined in great depth .
(pun intended)

I just want them to analyze the rudder inputs. I note this about Motor Vessel Dali, - if a traffic video system shows me going straight, and then I veer off into a stationary policeman directing traffic in the intersection 15 degrees or more from my course of travel, I guaran-dang-tee you I’m the presumptive focus, possibly getting shot at the moment, and fairly expectedly so, — not my old car, not precisely how intentional it was, not how agile or fragile the officer was, not the novelty of a mechanical issue, my Yukon’s weight or unseen forces. Watch it 5 times. Fast and slow. Look at the wind. Look at the surface. Consider the depth - the exposed truss is buried in silt. Look at the motion, speed and direction in relation to the pier and the outage.

Sometimes things just happen? Wow...
Yes, that's the bowdlerized version of a very common aphorism. Never heard it? Or must every mishap now be a conspiracy?

When a large modern ship loses electrical power it cannot be controlled in any meaningful way that I'm aware of. As a former harbormaster stated yesterday, losing power in that situation was about the worst possible scenario.

Guess I hope that phrase isn't used on my next plane ride. "Sometimes things just happen" Wings falling off, Engines in flames....My gut says something isn't right with this. Thats all I need. Dundalk Marine Terminal offline for how many days? The supply chain .... has a major problem right now. Along with the victims and their families. How does a vessel this size lose power?

surface was calm/speed was fast by what I saw.

There shouldn't be any speculation, there should have been non crew, state licensed pilot on board. Capable of answering ANY navigation related questions, vessel emergency situation/actions concerning the incident. Immediately.

This got me to thinking....
How many engines a freight vessel has???
And they all quit at the same time??
Back up power supply??
I'm sure each engine has its own generator if multiple??
