WANTED: Primed Norma .223 brass

just an FYI for anybody ordering from raven rock, when I ordered primed 223 brass I asked specifically about the thickness of the primer cups wether they were thinner like 205m or thicker like the BR-4’ ? I asked because I load 223AI and the 205m pierce occasionally where as the BR4s don’t…….he told me not to worry they were a military primer and would be fine….long story short nope they pierced 100% of the time and this was with 1 grain over my 223 load……….

How heavy is the brass? I had heard it was over 100 grain and might be causing that issue.

762,

Out of the 1k I measured, two minor groups were 102.2-102.4 (lightest group, Q=49) and >/ 103.6 (Q=121, heaviest group). I don't have the counts for the two major groups, one was the rest of the 102s to 102.9, and 103s to 103.5s. I don't have quantities for the major groups.

Something is not right possibly with your load, brass or your scale if you are popping primers. What is the headstamp on the brass? RR says (or said) they sell both Norma HS and RUAG HS brass, primed and unprimed.

HTH,

Mine are nickel plated and the head stamp is Norma, my scale is fine and my loads are fine the only variable is this is new brass

762,

Those are not the 5.56 brass, which is not nickel plated and a HS of Norma - 5.56 - headstamp. I wasn't doubting your word, the HS and nickel plating and weights demonstrate they don't appear to be the milspec brass.
