Anyone deal with Burris with their "Forever Warranty" recently?

a real eye opener ......I am glad I read this as I was just about to buy a burris .....was looking at a leupold and burris difference of the two was price .....after reading this burris is not even a thought .

...had sent a couple of 36x leupold scopes in for repair these were scopes from early 80's one was repaired and two could not be repaired due to parts no longer in stock..... but they gave me options of several scopes as replacements.....leupold may be expensive but I am too old to be trying to save a dollar on a 50cent scope warranty service is worth the extra dollar

I have to say I have used and loved Burris products for decades. Very few problems but the couple issues I had were handled fast and fairly.

I sent a N.I.B. 6X AO. Compact back to them for parallax issues before ever mounting it.

Long story short.....after three trips back, it came back 'fixed' again. But none of the little seals I'd put on it to indicate disassembly had been disturbed and the w/e turrets were in the same exact spot that I had purposely left them in.

Following that decacle (trip #3), I ended up talking with an engineer there and asked him about the reticle cell. He told me that on that model, the vertical line was on one lens and the horizontal line was on another. Then the cell was mounted with both lenses fitted together. When I told him he had just explained why I couldn't clear the parallax in both the vertical and horizontal at the same time, it got real quiet on his end. "Son of a ...." he finally said softly. He told me to send it to his attention.

That was the last I ever saw of it. Despite repeated calls to anyone that would listen, it simply disappeared in the sucking vortex known as Burrisdom. And I was out a scope. It's probably propping open a door at the Burris lunch room.

Like Forrest Gump...that's all I have to say about that. -Al
Yep, Burris 20 years ago was good to deal with and made a decent 6X scope for hunter score BR. They flushed themselves down the toilet a long time ago imo.

I have over 20 handgun scopes from Burris. Only 3 I've had problems with the last 30+ years. All were replaced with no problems.
Can't say that about Bushnell. Their rangefinding binos broke. They refused to replace, but offered to sell me new ones at retail!! I use Leica Geovids now.

Last year I sent a Signature 6-24 bought in the early 90's, for warranty. It had a bad spot on the eyepiece lens coating, most likely caused by me. It came back in just a couple weeks with new front and back lenses.

I'm SHOCKED........... But good for you.

At least part of how well you're treated by service people is how well you treat them. Of course it helps if they've actually got the parts needed for fixing. But instead of venting anger and throwing attitude, be polite and say "There's a problem with this, can you help me". Be on their side and it's far more likely they'll be on yours. Not their fault something went wrong, they don't build these things, just fix them.

There was no "venting" either time for me. Simply asking how and what I needed to do to get the scope repaired. Then I was told why that wouldn't happen and I could either except the much lower grade optic or pay MUCH more for an upgrade....At that point I said no Thank You and ended the calls. I still have a few Signature 6-24 daylight/twilight scopes that work perfect from the 80's. But the lack of CS for my issues (not tracking for both optics Signature and a Black Diamond) was enough for me to not purchase any new products from them.

Most of their scopes have "target" or "Long range" reticules. I just want a crosshair.
Well said, lowmileage! l just want a CROSSHAIR TOO. l shoot prairie dogs and paper targets. l'm not a dialer. l don't want a video game when l look into a scope. Just a crosshair P L E A S E !

Fine plex to me is their best reticle. All the Burris scopes I had/have have this in them.

I must be lucky, I've only had excellent service with Burris and Steiner, I've sent in a couple pistol scopes and received them back in a timely manner repaired and they're still on pistols working as intended. Bought a used Steiner M5 and had it go down, sent it to Burris and they replaced it with a new M7. Like I said, they're customer service has been great for me, much better than some of the other major companies
