What kind of paint for a barrel channel?

What should I paint/seal this with? Rattle can?

I use epoxyy resin that has been thinned down so it does not build up but seals up very well.

I put a light coat of ITW Evercoat polyester putty along the whole channel to cover all the little holes, sand smooth and then paint with Brownells Aluma-Hide II.

I just did one with some thin bar top epoxy. Worked well.

Just about anything that will seal it from Gun Oil.

Tape the sides, action area and rattle can flat black. Takes about 5 minutes.

Flat black is the winner. I've got some sealing epoxy but... that stuff boils (literally) if you leave it in the pot... I'm afraid to use it on unknown materials like this.

I bet it does. I'll get some and try it... on another one. Can't add weight to this particular one.

I use black spray can bed liner. I’ve been using it for years. It works great!

Man, there's lots of ways that will work. It boils down to what you want. You can seal, prime paint and clear without much added effort to a stock you're painting anyway. Looks good this way but it can be anything from carbon fiber to a rattle can.

If you want a gloss finish get a small can of black outdoor paint made for doing railings and such. Get latex for easy clean up. I paint it on with an acid brush then wipe down the stock edges.

Another idea. Seal it, then cover with Carbon Fiber pattern tape. Or any other pattern tape for that matter.
