5.56 brass with tiny flash holes?

I recently ran across 556 range brass that I am having trouble punching out the old primer, even with my Redding small
Pin die! Does anyone know what manufacturers are punching such tiny flash holes? I’ll be posting some headstamp pics soon.

Has the primer started to corrode? I've seen that with 9mm brass that was exposed to the weather and made it difficult to decap.

Lots of brass coming in from Europe has these small holes. Get a Squirrel daddy pin or a Lee reduced diameter pin and it will be fine

I pick up a bunch of something that had red sealant around the primers.....the flash hole is way undersized.....that was a glorious disaster

And, that is why I don’t pick up range brass anymore. Not worth the pain in the back or pita trying to save a penny or two loading it.
I bought a good/better brass catcher for my AR. Solved that problem.

I too picked up some of the same. Bent a deprimer on the first one.
I drilled out a couple. Flash holes were off center.
Not worth the effort.
The ones I have, have a red primer A stamp IK 21m and a caliber stamping. 5.56 X 45.

I have come across cases with the IK headstamp. I believe they are Czech in origin. I cull them as they are not worth the effort to reload.

That's them. I came close to reaming out the flash holes, but quickly grew sick of dealing with them at all.

:D Actually some of Red Cornelison's old stuff. I have some in 30-30 and 250-3000 also. Said to be Federal. I have Remington 6BR brass without flash holes also.
US Secret Service at one point was issued sterile ammo. I am not sure if this is still the case. I have seen sterile 7.62x51 Nato rounds of Israeli origin. Neat stuff.
