I found a decent accuracy 0.010 off the lands. Could someone explain the rationale for starting with 0.15 off with hybrid bullets?

There is no absolute rationale other than you have to start somewhere. Start at .010" if it pleases you.

If you start at jam theres a 100% chance if you move it youll be going the right way. I like those odds way better than 50/50.

As mentioned above, because you have to start somewhere. Do whatever 'floats your boat'. There's no exact answer for any of this. If it works today, it might not work tomorrow. Welcome to the endless pursuit of perfection.

My hybrid experience is limited to 6mm and 6.5 caliber, but I don’t think they’re a dang bit easier to tune than anything else. The window may be a little bit wider, but I do mean a little bit. I bought HVLD this time around. I start testing in the lands and back them out.

It was pretty close, but slightly better. 0.1"-0.05". Why not start with hard jam?

As mentioned above there is no set position for any one particular rifle. What works for one may and probably won't be the absolute best place to start for another. .015 was just a chosen starting point. There is no replacement for each individual testing for themselves with everything to do with shooting & hand loading.

Depending on how long the bearing surface of the bullet is I would start closer to the middle of the listed charge window to be safe. Jam can elevate pressures quickly with longer bearing surfaces.

Hybrids are supposed to be jump tolerate.
Hasn't been my experience though. Some do, some don't. 300 grain otm in my 338Imp like a little jam, 140 hybrids in my old 6.5x46 liked .030 off. My BR liked the the 105 Hybrids. 012 off. Gotta test.

That is what I've seen. Increasing powder charges while jammed and you can suddenly discover yourself piercing primers. Pressures seem to increase rapidly until all of a sudden you step off that cliff. I start at 20 thou off myself. No particular reason.

I never found any bullet to like .015 in my stuff lol. One .257 likes .010 with tipped gamekings, my wsm liked 30-40 off with vld or hybrid, my 308 also .030-.034 off with 168 vld or 180 elites. I been starting at .020 a lot lately
