General lathe cutting fluid - What do you use ?

And itll keep your machine lookin good. All you gotta do is wipe it down with kerosene to keep the wax at bay.

I came to the exact conclusion I use mineral spirits to do a final cleaning on my machines. But now that I've got my standard modern and it has such a shallow tray I just clear out all the chips every time I get done with a magnet blow it down and I want to leave the oil on it to keep it from rusting. But it's not staining anything quite the contrary.

Try kerosene next time. Its way cheaper and evaporates overnite. I also dip my reamers in there to get the chips off as im reaming. I have a mason jar sitting there and swirl my reamer in it, the chips just fall off then i blow it off, re-oil it and go back in

Bud, you better be careful and not get them thar jars cornfused. Sometimes good kerosene looks as good as that moonshine from your fridge!!!! Course if you get a bad batch from your cuz it will taste like kerosene and you can just use it instead to reduce the headcount lol!!!! Most times after a few snorts good labeling is your friend!!!!

All the chips in the bottom is my clue. They get crunchy

Last gallon of Ridgid dark cutting oil I bought says low odor, anti mist formulation. It has no sulfur smell and actually smells good to me.

Does it get the suphur smell when it smokes?

No, it's an odd odor to describe, not a strong chemical smell and doesn't smell like any other oil I've used.

The Dark thread cutting oil from Ace Hardware, does have a strong sulphur smell.

I use the Ridgid Extreme Performance for Stainless steel mixed with ATF type F fluid in thru-barrel flush system.

Would you consider the Rigid products to have a lower viscosity or a higher viscosity?
