Process Cleaning Fired Brass

I did a search and it was like google.. Any answer you want came up.
I have Lapua, fired 6 BR brass. My current process is: spray RCBS case slick, size and polishing with corn cob media.
My question is: Should I be washing the brass in a solution then size then polish?
What solution should I use if I should wash?
Thank you.

Several ways you can do it and none of them are absolute. Depends on you OCD and what bothers you. I know several people that load with a Dillon and don't clean the brass.

6mm br are typically quite clean. You can anneal, size, and tumble. Cleaning twice never made sense to me, but.... your ocd might be different.

Many people worry about wearing out their die. You would need to shoot out multiple Barrels on a regular basis before that is an issue.

deprime and tumble in treated corn cob. Then just wipe them off, with a cloth, FL size again to make sure neck is round, make sure primer hole/pocket is clear, then further prep case as needed and reload it.

I apply a few twists of 0000 steel wool to necks to remove carbon residue then tumble in corn cob media. Comes out looking like new.

All I care about is clean and this works with the least amount of hassle. I deprime, lube, size, the wet tumble with just a dish washer tab and hot water, then I dry them and anneal. Dish washer tabs work great to get them clean and only need a single rinse. I buy the Costco brand so they are cheap to use

If I wanted super shiny I could add Lemonshine and pins, I used to do that but the pins are a hassle to sift out and the Lemonshine is unnecessary for cleaning

I throw them in the vibratory with media and a little Nu-Finish, then wipe them off, deprime,fl size, champher, deburr, prime and load. Then re wipe them all off.

This is a question with a million answers..there is no one process that fits all, or
perhaps there is however no one cares...lol
I anneal first then tumble 2 to 3 hrs and then De prime and
Lube with lanolin/Alky mix and size them. Followed by light tumble to remove lanolin.
( I find that a tumble after annealing helps when I seat my bullets )
I dont get too much of the carbon out of the necks however as i dont tumble that long.
Mandrel the necks and Prime, and or Trim, inspect & Fill and Seat.
Thats sorta it less i forgot somthin.....

1) Deprime
2) Tumble in fine walnut
3) Separate media, dump cases onto old bath towel, shake and wipe off dust
4) Lube and size
5) Tumble in 50/50 corn cob and rice
6) Separate media and clean again with towel
7) Trim
8) Load

I quit shinning them up years ago.

I deprime - boiling hot water with Lemi shine.

Equipment
old plastic coffee cans with snap on lids
Q-tips to wipe out the primer pockets just before the clean water rinses.

i usually deprime on one of my last steps so i dont have to pick corn or walnut media from the pockets.
1 tumble in walnut to knock off the carbon
2 anneal
3 size and expand
4 tumble in walnut to get lube off 30 minutes
5 trim
6 deprime and prime
7 powder
8 seat

I want clean on the outside for sizing. So deprime, wash in tumbler NO pins. Hot water, jungle Jake cleaner and some lemon juice. Hot water rinse, dry them, brass stay shiny. Ready to anneal or lube and size.

I clean necks (they never hit the ground) spray w one shot, size, wipe off, clean pockets & start over loading.

Tumble, polish, etc.. nonthing matters anything. Are you going to exhibition? Use clean clothes and air pressure. You clean your brass only for your dies.
