Glock 20 Pistol Opinions?

I don’t have the Glock 40 but have the Glock 20 SF. It’s a 10mm gen 3. What’s not to love 15 rounds of 10mm, and a pistol that never jams. The reason why LE doesn’t use the 10mm is because the recoil. The FBI tried in 1989 but they couldn’t shoot it accurately enough. The reason for them trying the 10mm because of the Miami shoot out where the 38 and 9MM didn’t have the stopping power. I live in California and if I could own a Glock 40 I would.

Recoil out of the plastic gun seems softer than our of the steel 10mms I have shot. Maybe so is because of the plastic and also a wider grip.
I've not used the g40 but have shot the g20 some. My only beefs are its kinda big in the hand and like all glocks, you must use a holster. Otherwise, they are good to go.

Actually it wasn't only recoil and manageability, it was that the round had too much power and the bullets made for the round didn't perform to the expected standard. Over penetration was occuring and the concern of the bullet hitting bystanders after passing thru the bad guy made the round unpopular. Hence the shorter .40 S&W version was born. LE have slowly been detouring toward lower recoiling calibers since the bullets and powders have been improved upon. The .40 was the popular LE round but today most agencies use the 9mm again. High capacity and great performing ammo are now synonymous in the 9mm. One shot stop of the 9mm has almost doubled since the 9mm began it's LE adoption decades ago. Today's 9mm ammo isn't your Daddy's 9mm ammo from the 80s.

If Glock 40s were any good, you'd see some LE agencies using them.

What??? That comment is pure ignorance. LEOs don’t use the Glock 40 because the barrel and slide is a mile long and have a lot of recoil with the 10mm round. Has nothing to do with being any good.

The G40 was designed more for people who want to hunt with a handgun. The shorter G20 and G20 SF were designed for people who want to have a carry pistol with a lot of power.

A Glock is a Glock. They all shoot about the same and are extremely reliable for an auto loader.

I have a Glock 20 and have barrels that are G40 length. The gun runs exceptionally well. Never had an issue which is no surprise from a Glock.

The 40 is too long for my style. I would bury the muzzle in the dirt when sitting. The G20 Gen 3/4 is the way to go. I wish Glock would make a slim slide 20 like the 40.

Pics of my G20. Pretty much custom everything except for the OEM polymer frame. I also have a shorter 10mm barrel and a 40 S&W barrel for it. Runs all 10mm and 40 S&W rounds perfectly. Great gun.

For a concealed carry gun, the G40 is not good.

For a OWB, or external carry, bear defence, and hunting, you'll have to spend a lot more for similar performance. the MOS works well with a delta point pro

But glocks are like buying a factory M700... you end up tweaking everything. I have e a G40 with a 22 lbs spring, new trigger, do dad's here and there, and extended height sights for cowitness with the RDS. I still want a new barrel with a threaded end and a 40 cal barrel as well. All in, I would have been just as good with the Sig 229.
