What to buy?

What do you buy yourself for a new toy when there is nothing you’ve just got to have?

A new bolt rifle in a big 30? Another xp100 in something odd? An old single shot in some obscure obsolete caliber?
Think you would feel better if you just bought like a new scope for a forum member in greater need? :)

Always wanted a marlin 45-70 stainless big loop 16" barrel. Threaded for a can and brake. Can play with sub sonic cast or juice it up with supers and see how many besser blocks it will smash 8-)

Design your own cartridge. Worked for me (338 BOS)

Yes is about the best answer I can give you. Guilty as charged lol.

Having thoughts on a 7.62x39 bolt gun for some reason. Went through the SKS period in the 80’s, would like one with a 308 bore though. We shall see, have a couple of CB molds that drop around .314. What I need, another project ……..

Many years ago I bought a Mini Mauser in 7.62x39, Rebarrelled it to 270x39 Improved. Just a great accurate little fellows deer rifle, and now it is a 220 Beggs "220 Russian".

My latest actually was both an old single shot in an equally old caliber, although not obscure. Winchester LowWall single shot in .22RF. Built in 1896, this one was different enough to buy and bring home. It has a #2, rather than the more common #1 barrel contour, half round, half octagon, single set trigger, and a nickel plated double hook buttplate. I applied for a factory letter from the Cody Museum the day after it followed me home. It's in pretty fine condition, and I would guess it was someone's pride and joy off hand rifle. If all the features are as it came from the factory, it was an even better deal that the price I paid. It had it's maiden voyage to the range yesterday. Best group out of 4 ammo choices was .450" for 10 shots @ 25yds, double that at 50 with a couple fliers that were no doubt operator error. Without fliers, it would have been .700". Not bench gun standards, but it isn't a bench gun, and doesn't ride the bags like one either.

Give a pcp air gun ago. Many good choices out there. Most are very accurate out to 50 yds. Some have moa accuracy to 100. Plus they are quite and really fun for target shooting or pesting.
