PTG unithroaters? Is PTG trustworthy to order from?

Where does one get the adapter? Something manson has on the shelf as well?
Nope, Manson doesn't offer them (maybe they should...)
Ebay:

I don't have a reamer to get a good sliding fit for the 1/4" throaters which is why I didn't just make one.
The adapter is well made with a good sliding fit, and cheap enough.

Uni-throater is nice, but geared for those that don't have a lathe and need to run the reamer by hand. No reason for the extra expense when you've got the machinery...

I need to make one of those. Wish i had a nice .250 reamer to put a good hole in it

Need a tool make a tool. I ordered one because they're cheap but will make one and just lap it to be exact.

Been wanting to play with some barrel laps anyway!

Are those laps? I've never seen those. I do a little bbl lapping on occasion but have always poured the lap or made it from multiple lead bullets stacked. That actually works pretty well. Just have to keep them lined up. But Those look pretty good. I wonder how they work. Are they expandable? Boy, that'd be nice!

They're called barrel laps. But not the kind of "barrel" we're talking about here. These are for honing the ID hole.

For "lapping a barrel" - I'd do what you described. Pour some hot lead down the barrel onto a jag, lube it up with some abrasive grease and go at it.

Pour em or cold forge em into a sleeve you bore. Then you can fine tune the size according to how much you bump em up

Guess I'm an outlier, too, as I've had only a couple of issues that were easily resolved in dealing with PTG. And this is out of at least a couple dozen purchases of tooling, bolts, actions, and parts. I have a couple of uni-throaters and they work extremely well. I prefer other makers for chamber reamers, but have a bunch of PTG reamers that work fine and cut to the dimensions they are suppose to. One of the problems they've had over the years I think is having order takers that really don't know much about the products.

On the other hand, it was mentioned that you could rent tooling from 4D Reamer rentals if you only need it once. I've rented maybe 12-15 reamers and gauges from him over the last 10 or so years, all for chambers that I knew I would likely never do again. After the last three rentals, all late last year, he will never get another dime from me. Not being able to call a business and talk to somebody should be your first red flag.

When PTG get it right it’s an easy transaction but when they screw up you’ll have more fun juggling a chainsaw, rattlesnake and a cactus. After my last two deals with them I’m done. Also If THEY screw up your order it goes to the back of the list to fix it even if what what you ordered may have been 3-5 months prior. They suck.

Go with JGS. More expensive than PTG but found their service and products excellent. Stated lead times were accurate. Like others have said time is money and it's better to get it rite the first time.

The shank diameters are the same as chamber reamers so no bushings required. They also take standard PTG pilot bushings on their HSS reamers. The carbide reamer bushings are different between PTG and JGS

The 2 times I've tried to order from PTG about all I got from it was frustration and elevated blood pressure! I know several folks who have awesome luck with them BUT I've heard more complaints than praise.

Manson reamers I have nothing but great things to say, they have always helped me with questions and put me back in line when I had some crazy idea lol if they have it in stock you'll have it in a few days and if they have to make it and tell you 6 weeks that's when you'll get it...... I tend to do business with places that have good customer service and well can't say that in my experience with PTG.
