Ever have meds affect your shooting?

My last 2 builds have both shot crappy. Can't find a good load for either. NEVER had this problem before. Today a rifle I * know * shoots well (way under half moa, often 0.30" @ 100 yd) wouldn't hold under 1" at 100 yd.

I tend to blame the Indian not the arrow. Only diff I can think of is a new prescrip med I'm on.

Without me or you telling which med, even had a scrip screw up your shooting?

VERY frustrating and demoralizing. Bout ready to sell it all. (No, not really, but maybe.) Anyway... thanx for reading. Any non-confidential info appreaciated.

I don't think you will get too many in depth answers as there are not many details. Having said that, the first thing I would do is have a 2nd Indian that you know can shoot test it for you. That way you can narrow things down to either you or the equipment and loads.

As far as meds are concerned there is a reason why some state to not operate machinery while on. Sometimes that is only cautionary, sometimes they really mean it.

I've been re-studying shooting technique, managing recoil, shouldering the rifle, front / rear rest usage, everythign I can think of. But I like the "other shooter" idea.

No on meds but.....

I can tell you that having a heart rate of upper 30's to low/medium 40 BPM makes precision shooting a whole lot easier. Without getting too morbid, one of these days I'm not gonna wake up(pass out frequently, enough).... it's OK,keep a smile going.

Just sayin, anything you can do to lower your pulse rate on "race day",will show up on paper.

I had a pacemaker “installed” because my pulse rate was in your range.

Many things, including prescription meds, can throw off your focus. Even an electrolyte imbalance can make your abilities decline from your baseline. I've had medications that would throw me into a "brain fog" prevent me from maintaining my focus. As a matter of fact, my concentration is suffering right now from an OTC sinus medication as I type this. Without it, I would have such congestion that my day would be constantly interrupted.

I take Prilosec, a multi vitamin, and Prevagen on the morning of a match but delay my red yeast rice until that evening. I can't prove the ingredients in red yeast rice unsettle me but they are very similar to statins which do.

If red yeast rice contains red food dye, it is to some a stimulant…

READ the side effects...... allergy meds screw up my vision so bad some even cause mystery objects to show up now and then, right now it is watery eyes or ghosts ..... blood pressure meds can be unpredictable too

Meds AFFECT shooting?

Opoid for pain,, Gabopentin for nerves, another nerve blocker, a muscle relaxer and more ...
stopped my shooting since early May. Actually stopped my walking, usage of hands, lying down (no sleeping) and driving. MRI's and a meeting with a neurologist June 29th.

May not live again let alone shoot. Meds sure can mess you up.

Your best source of advice is from your doctor.

Every med can have different effects on different individuals depending on age and other medical conditions. Non-medical professionals are not a good source to seek the information you want.

Good shooting buddy had heart issues REAL BAD. Came to the range but couldn't get out of his truck. Pulled his gear, set him up, set targets so he got to shoot at least a little. When we were done. loaded up his gear and sent him back home.
Next range trip, he was 100%. ;) Bad heart finally killed him.

A little OT but, if you've got a friend, KEEP IN TOUCH!! My shooting buddy friend cut me off short one time when I called but I didn't give it much thought. Tried calling a few more times but never got to talk to him. ALWAYS sent he and his wife birthday and Christmas cards. No replies. Sent a birthday card then about 2 months later, got a note in the mail from his sister. "Call me if you want info about Mike and his wife".
Come to find out, their house burned and they moved into their upstairs "office" about 50 yards away. His wife had liver cancer for a long time. His heart was junk!!
Took nitro to get up the stairs to the office. He died in his chair. She ended up back in the hospital and died shortly after. His sister mentioned that "at least" his wife was clean and well taken care of in the hospital.
He was always after his sister for $$$ to buy meds. I gave him $ 2K and never gave it a second thought. He got so bad with dementia that he wanted the wife to come home from the hospital so she could could go the 1/4 mile to the store so he could get back home.
After they both died, his sister found over $200K in Ins. Co. un cashed checks from when the house burned.
KEEP IN TOUCH!!

Definitely. Also found out that the cup of hot chocolate (dark) I drank one time before a match caused all kinds of grief.
