Drill chuck annealer case holder?

I wound up switching form the ole socket method to my invention. I bought a $20 small pottery wheel machine on ebay and adapted it with a ss spring and cut down little crow holders. it has speed control to as slow as you want. I like it and handier than settting up the drill.

Little harder to switch pieces with that rather than dumping them out of a socket though right?

Well, using this method Is not a speed contest but the potter wheel requires one less hand movement per case. I use a small long nose plier to extract and reload cases. What I like is it's squat, compact, quiet, no batteries and a dedicated machine. And low cost, as long as dont have to pay for lathe time.

I just use a drill, the lee case holders and a pair of plyers.
A drill, 1/4” socket adapter and a deep well socket your brass fits in will eliminate the pliers. Leave the torch in one spot, drop a case in, anneal it, then dump it in your water tray or whatever you use to collect it. I did way more annealing back when i used that method before i got fancy machines i never feel like dragging out

Exactly! Right now I have 16 223 to anneal. Have it done in gif. To set up and adjjust benchsource? No way. Plus I’d prob ruin one of my lapuas getting the time down. Yeah the seconds preset is what it is but the flame/pressure is always diff the next time. Esp for small neck cases where it dosent take much extra to cook one

Deep 1/2" socket stuffed with steel wool so the case sticks out to where you want it.
Propane torch (the trigger type) locked on, rechargable/electric drill motor.
Torch cylinder standing on it's end, case moved into the flame the length of time you want. Drop the hot case on a damp towel. Grab the next case, stuff it in the socket and repete. I use Mapp Gas. Hotter and less time in the flame.

I never would have spent $600 on a machine If I had known how simple and productive it is to hand anneal, once you get your system down. It's just a cold beer to do 100, sipping.

This
I just secure my torch in a good position
Load a case in the socket
Do the deed
Dump case in metal pan
Dump another case in the socket
Rinse and repeat.

Yea, it’s pretty easy and fast.
I generally don’t enjoy reloading but annealing with a beverage and cigar is something I don’t mind.

So my ebay 60rpm motor fit into a cheap stainless steel container from Osh. I think the new dayton motor cost me 6 bucks, a chord salvaged from some dead electronic gizmo (free) and couple of holders machined by a friend for the different size cartridges that I fiddle with (six pack of beer). I just use a leather glove and grab-em by the hot side when they are done and toss them into a wire mesh basket. It has worked well for about 12 years, and I’m always surprised how quick and consisent I can do 100…with about 2 minutes of setup time

I bought these but found then to be too deep for 223 and 30-06 size. The top of the alum holder was very close to the shoulder, so I figured that the flame would rapidly transfer heat down the holder to the drill or whatever is used to spin. So I cut them in half and no extra wobble but easier to insert and extract.

The nut drriver sockets work for me too.

I will also look into the deep sockets for added protection of the case body and web area.
