22ppc

I bought a pre-fit chambered for the 22PPC, for one of my Howa mini's, from Preffered Barrel Blanks and installed it. It is shooting lights out and a super fine/accurate cartridge and carries so well in this mini action.
Sako did make a factory .22 PPC. Now days the only factory availability would be a Cooper or you could get a prefit barrel from several sources for a Remington , Remington clone or Savage action.

I went with the 220 Beggs, same powder capacity of 22 PPC short, without the hassle. Been a great gun shooting 53 gr bullet ,25.0 LT-32 for A light load that in very accurate

I have one of the older Ruger 77v's that I bought from a seller on this site. It took me awhile to find the right load. Very temperamental. I finally found 2 great loads. The best is with the old Norma N1 and almost as good is IMR8208xbr. Both these shoot sub 1/2" groups with the old Remington obsolete 52 gr benchrest bullets. These loads are repeatable so far. This is the most accurate factory gun that I own

The 22 PPC suffered the same fate as the 222 Rem in Benchrest circles. The lighter 22 bullets just don't buck the wind like the heavier 6mm does. Like the 222 Rem, the 22 PPC is still a great round.

In sure enough BR competition the availability of custom 22cal. Bullets and jackets is probably one of the biggest reasons you don't see it more
Some still use it with great success

I have been shooting one for over a year now and I am willing to go out on a limb and say that with the right bullet it gives up little to nothing to the 6mms in the 65 to 68 gr range.
Ubr modified class shooter of the year was won with one this year as well as the north Carolina state match in custom class.
They are easy to shoot and seem to stay in tune without any fiddling around. I pre load for every match, and have shot the same load since I started with it.

And that load of yours is???
I like what you have shared above. Thanks.

I am shooting a New Krieger 4 Groove, now in 22 ppc that is without a doubt the most accurate barrel I have ever owned....panda action.

I am shooting Bart's 52's with an old lot# of Scott's H322 that is very similar to T32, Fed 205, and Lapua brass.

My barrel is fairly long with a Harrells muzzle break on it.

I load a 57gr hillbilly boat tail over 28.2gr of n135 with a cci400 or federal 205m into Lapua brass.
Bullet seated at a light jam.
Thank you. The 22 PPC and the 22 BR should be far more popular than they are. The issue seems to be too many variables of chamber dimensions, lack of ready-to-shoot brass, and folks simply favoring the 6mm projectiles. But with today's newer and heavier 22 cal match bullets, these cartridges deserve another look and consideration. My current interest is the Sako 22 PPC rifle I am prepping for the range -- seeking a fun load. Seems like many good bullets with multiple powders can produce excellent results.

My old .22 Waldog was my favorite rifle when I shot short range bench rest. When my 6ppc is dead I will have another Waldog. Fantastic little round.

Paul,is the Waldo G -.125” on a ppc case and what powder did you like, did you look for a powder faster than N133?

I shot a 22ppc one year in short range Benchrest. I had a lot of trouble seeing my bullet holes in mirage at 200 yards. When they hit on a ring.
I used to shoot matches out in the desert, and humidity was usually quite low. I can see how it could be a problem in a high humidity area.

17VLD,

Mine was the .100 short version. I started with VV133 and had many groups in the 1's and really saw no reason to pursue another powder. It metered very well as I was loading between matches. A long way of saying no! Sorry no info to share on other powders.

My Waldog is not picky at all when it comes to powders.
I have had very good success with LT-30, LT-32, H-322, N-135, BL-C(2), and N-133. All shot with Robinett’s 52 gr flat base bullets. My best groups so far have been shot with N-133.

I had a number of custom 22 PPC's. If you can find any WC844 for use with the 50-55g bullets, you will indeed be amazed. I won a benchrest match with 52g Remingtons with 25g of imr 4198 and a fed 205 primer, sako brass.

H335 with 50-55g bullets will give you some unbelievable barrel life shooting red hot barrels on dog towns. I typically shot a 50g Speer tnt, bltiz at 3550 on dog towns. Shooting p. dog heads at 300 was not unusual.

45g Hornady hornets ran out of gas around 275 with a MV of 3800, dogs just fell over...where is the fun in that?
I really like my 22PPC which is in a Shilen BP-S action and bedded in a Neal Johnson 3P stock with 28" Bartlien 1-12" barrel. It likes N135 and SW Precision but I do have about 6 lbs left of WC844 so i'd like to try that also. What kind of starting place and Max should i consider for 52/53 grain bullets?

What’s the parent case of the Waldog?
