Big Bart Sauter Story -- 6 BRA Tack Driver Winner

Excellent video and article! One question I have about rifle setup in the bags, pressure against forward stop? Just touching, hard hold, pull back just a little?

He's not controlling or aiming the rifle with his shoulder.

The stop has a rubber cover to allow the rifle to be pushed against it. That's it.
The front rest is for aiming and the rear bag just allows the rifle to slide straight back and forth.
His shoulder pressure appears to be just barely touching to prevent the stock from accelerating rearward, and minimizing movement. Maybe 1/4"or so, which is plenty to allow the bullet to leave the barrel.

Question:
From what I understand the idea of this shoot was to get multiple shooting disciplines (including F Class) together to see who’s the king at 300 meters but as far as I’ve seen from several photos it appears all the guns were benchrest rigs. Were there any non-bench guns at the shoot?

The competition was shot from benches. F Class rifles were legal, But were shot from the bench instead of the ground.

Pretty sure the F class guys would of gotten tired of getting stepped on and kicked. Also trying to shoot from the ground up through all those flag poles would be a bitch.

Bart, what's your trigger pull weight? Shooting free recoil, any comment on repeatable technique finger-on-trigger? First thing comes to my mind: No apparent sideways motion of reticle when the trigger breaks. Should one dry fire practice to master that?

Fantastic video! Kudos.

The overwhelming majority of Benchrest Rifles use a trigger with 2 ounces or less of let off.
